Has anyone here given the IDW "Silent Interlude 30 Year Anniversary" book a read? It has some great insights into the creation of the book. My only wish was that they delved more into the creation of the cover of the silent issue.

Since the cover is almost as iconic as the story I thought they could have covered that more. But it's a great read and I recommend it. Here's a link with info:

Now you know! (thumbs u

I actually have a copy of this. However, if you are looking for more information about and surrounding the issue check out The Complete GI Joe Volume 2 I believe.

Couple more books out of the way. Surprised to find a #154 but happy I did. So now I need two books to complete the run and 2 books that I just want to upgrade to nicer copies. Almost there, :)

Ones in red are the ones I need better copies and ones in black are the two I need. The ones in yellow highlight I have. Store I went too today is checking their back inventory which they have been pulling out slowly and how I got the 154. They are expanding their store for more stock so slowly getting more stuff out. I have a feeling they will have what I need and will know in a week or so. They also looking for the 3d ones and the european. Then I will move onto 2nd and third printings and the special #1.

Just recounted one of my favorite Joe stories over in CG in what is probably a thread that will be scrubbed... Thought I would share it here as well.

Many of the HIPPO's (Hi Posting Professional On-liners) run roughshod and in cahoots on these chatboards, ruining the joy for those of us whom love comics, and who can appreciate looking at registry sets, and enjoy looking up census data and all things and everything else comics related that these CGC chatboards have to offer. Many of these same people, who post ad naseum and without merit about anything and everything are the same people who disappear when some of the best things these boards have to offer come along like comic book polls including the recent" silver age hierarchy poll" and the great: "all time greatest war comics cover poll" (which will be or was already included in the next overstreet)

Larry Hama's GI Joe: A Real American Hero and Special Missions > 1950's War Comics.

BTW... if you go back and take a look 1950's War Comics (the boardie) there were some very interesting subjects that came up in Hama's run. Special Missions 2 instantly comes to mind when the Government sends the Joes to Argentina to retrieve the sequence code to disarm poison gas located on a plane buried in the ice in Greenland. The former SS officer will hand over the codes to disarm the gas if the Joes protect the SS officer from an Israeli Nazi hunting team and allow the SS officer to receive sanctuary in the US. The Joes are ordered to disarm the gas and protect the SS Officer from the Nazi Hunters.

How does it turn out? Read Special Missions 2

You just gonna leave us hangin'??? Geez.

You must be one a them jerks this thread is talking about. :baiting:

Happy to oblige.

While one Joe team is in Argentina, the other team in Greenland encounters Cobra who is looking to take the gas for themselves. The Joes quickly defeat Cobra (I am sure Hasbro wanted them in every comic somehow and they only make a fleeting appearance in this issue) and are able to disarm the gas on their own. While they are securing the area they come across the flight log from the wreckage and are able to deduce that the SS Officer betrayed the other Nazis on the plane and it's gold carrying escort by faking a malfunction and forcing the gold carrying plane to land and assist. After killing the crew of the gold carrying plane he flew off to Argentina.

The SS officer cites that the Joes have orders to protect him from the Israeli's who are in the room with the Joes and the SS Officer's bodyguards (who make up the families of other SS officers who escaped to Argentina). Lance "Clutch" Steinberg explains the situation to everyone in the room and maintains that he will follow orders and keep the SS Officer safe from the Israeli's but says that the agreement does not reach so far as to protect him from the SS Officer's "own kind."

Clutch walks off the compound with a thousand yard stare (excellent Trimpe pencils in this issue BTW) as you hear the gunshots in the background as the SS Officer meets his maker.

Cover was by Zeck and one of his best if you ask me.

Also... I've been selling off a bunch of things, throwing things out and even giving some stuff away.

I had to buy this though... Joecon Freefall from the Parachute drop...

This one was the actual one I bought off the bay. It was produced using Hasbro tooling in relation with the JoeCon Fan Publications Collector Club. It is a limited edition and yes, the parachute attaches to the figure and actually works

I got to get to a joecon some day. Ive seen vids of the parachute drops and just be fun to watch.

I've never been to one. If they were to come to NYC again I would check it out. I always get the feeling that I am better off attending these shows from afar.

I join the collector club each year for the opportunity to get the exclusives as a non attendee and their FSS which is pretty good actually. Factor in the hotel and travel expenses and I can wait for a NYC show sometime down the road.

Incidentally, Fun Publications found out a couple of weeks before the show that Hasbro was willing to renew their contract for another two years into 2018. Hasbro TM'd the word "Hasbrocon" and did not renew the Transformers or GI Joe license. Someone must have realized that Hasbro is a couple of years away from organizing something at the level that Fun Publications has been doing, so they relented and allowed FP to do their thing while Hasbro organizes their stuff for 2019.

This means that there will be a FSS 5 and FSS 6.

:applause: Very cool commission indeed! I've always thought Stalker was a great character, very underrated IMO. I'd love to see a one-shot of his exploits in Nam.

OK, here is another great Snake Eyes sketch from the master! :acclaim:

Does anyone here trade 80s Joe weapons and accessories? I've purchased some random toy lots recently and I'll have lots of extra accessories and vehicle pieces. I'm working on getting my want and have lists updated, and getting some pics ready. I guess PM me if you are interested in a trade.
