One of my most recent commissions is one of my all-time favourites as it's by industry legend Joe Kubert and features Enemy Ace, the Hammer from Hell!

Hopefully, I did this right and you can see the image but if you can't see it, I've included a link as well -

Here is my latest One Minute Later commission -- it is Jeff Slemons penciling a One Minute Later of Frank Frazetta's John Carter and the Savage Apes of Mars.

This is wonderful. And from one of my favorite Frazetta's no less.

The only artist I ever commissioned was the late Ron Turner - a UK great who will probably be an unknown to US collectors.

Ron, at the time, was retired. To augment his pension, he would do commissions from fans who remembered his work.

His rates were very reasonable. A full-color painted commission (irrespective of number of characters, backgrounds, logos, lettering, etc) would cost about £80 (around $130, I think?).

He would have the commission completed within a month.

Very reliable.

Here's an example of a re-created paperback cover, called THE BLACK AVENGERS, originally published in the early 1950s:

And to give listers an idea of Ron's comic-strip artwork, here's an episode (full-color painted art) from the long-running 1960s THE DALEKS strip (principle baddies from DR WHO) that ran over here in TV21 magazine:

Better question is how are you going to top it when your turn comes around for HER birthday! Good luck and great piece! :)

Here is my newest commission by Jack Katz who had been drawing comics since the Golden Age (Archie in 1943, Bulletman in 1943, Sub-Mariner in teh Silver Age, multiple bronze age DC comics). At 83, Jack still has it!!!!

He is available for commissions. You can call him at 510.290.5572.

I asked him why the bad guys were not present and he said that one minute after mopping up the bad guys, Captain Marvel Jr. and Bulletman went off to spend some downtime talking over the day's adventures with Bulletgirl so that is what he drew. Who am I to argue with a man that has been 58 years in the business!

Dooney just all kind of rocks. The spraypaint heart is a nice touch. :)
