grading

2 posts in this topic

i was wondering, are your graders independent of one another, i believe that more than 1 person actually grades a book, however, do the graders get notes from the others, or do they speak to each other about a particular book?

or are the graders totally in the dark one from another?

and if 1 grader calls a book a 10 and 2 others say its a 9.8 how do you assign a grade on that book then?

thanks

Yes, there is communication between the graders, but they grade each book independently of each other. The final grade assigned is chosen by the finalizer. It is not an average of grades, but rather the grade the finalizer feels is best for the book. If the finalizer differs from his graders, at his discretion, he will get another opinion from one of the other graders that has not seen the book before.
