Pre-Screening and Scheduled For Grading

2 posts in this topic

I have three invoices that are submitted for pre-screening. I just checked my account and all three are "Scheduled For Grading".

Does that mean they have been pre-screened and now are scheduled for grading OR does it mean that they are scheduled for pre-screening?

If it is the former, then all 50 books made the pre-screen grade but I have never had that happen before so I am suspecting it is the latter.

Could CGC clarify please? Thanks!

ORDER STATUS EXPLANATION

Status--------------------------------------- Meaning

Received/Verified---- The submission package has arrived at CGC and the number of comics in each package has been checked against the number shown on the submission invoice. The comics have been arranged by service type and date received to await the verification process.

Verification is a detailed check that the title, publisher, and issue number of the comics match the information on the submission form.

Scheduled For Grading---- Verification has been completed and submission information is entered into a computer so the comics will be traceable throughout the grading process by invoice number.

Each comic’s mylar/comic bag is labeled with a barcode and they are placed in a box by invoice which is labeled with a barcode. The boxes are dated, and arranged in the order received, so that they will be graded on a "first in-first out" basis by service type.

They are now awaiting the CGC Grading Process, and once graded, the encapsulation process.

Graded---- Books have been graded and are currently going through the encapsulation process. This is when the appropriate holder size is selected and each book is carefully encased. Once this is complete, each comic will enter into the quality control process before it will be shipped.

The quality control process is when graded and encapsulated comics are re-examined by a grader to make certain that their labels are correct for both the grade and its accompanying descriptive information. He also inspects each comic for any major flaws on its holder.

Shipped/Safe----- Comics have been inspected and approved in Quality Control, photographed in our imaging department if applicable and carefully packaged and shipped via your chosen method of delivery (or are being held for additional shipments). Grades are now available for viewing online, and the package is on its way back to you. Grades are available online once the books are marked with the status "Shipped".

:news:

Please refer to our Current Turnaround Estimates to determine when your comics will be completed and returned to you. The time it takes for submissions to move through the different phases of the process depends on the tier of service you selected and the volume of submissions we have in house. The amount of time a submission stays in any one point of the process is not necessarily indicative of the length of time it will take before your submission is completed.

For example, an Economy submission may make it quickly through the receiving/verification process and is ready for grading but if there are submissions with higher priority service types (like Standard or Express) in the grading room, they will get done first. Conversely, if a large volume of comics are received during a particular time, a submission may be marked as Received and not make it to Scheduled for Grading for many days but then quickly move through the other points in the process.

With that said, we never hold submissions back because of their service type. So, if there are Express and Economy submissions in the grading process and we can get them all done, we will regardless of the number days left in the projected turnaround time.
