Ive lost ALL confidence in CGC - UPDATE on page 221

I too have not read this entire thread but I get the jist of it.

Would it be more conducive to discretely "tattoo" the interior of the book with the CGC number to prevent this kind of fiasco? I think it would certainly prevent the books from going through the resubmittal and screwing up the census.

If i remember correctly, PSA/DNA has invisible ink. CGC could use that to barcode a book.

THEY BETTER NOT.

I don't want them adding chemicals to a book I won.

If I take it out and keep it raw why should they keep their mark on it

If they were to use invisible UV ink to "tattoo" the book in an inconspicuous area inside the book what difference would it make to you? Just means that if someone were to resubmit the book for grading it would come up in the CGC system as a book that had already been graded.

At least the customer could be notified that the book had previously been graded. I'm sure there are other logical advantages that could come of this!

That the book was previously means squat.

The person breaks it out for SS or mishandles it. IT results in new grade. The tattoo will accomplish nothing except add chemicals to a book that is sensitive to chemicals

So tell me why someone would break it out of a holder, mis-handle it and then submit it to expect a higher grade??????????????????????

They might resub after SS

They might break it open to read for their own collection and decide to reesub knowing it will get a lower grade. Is CGC supposed to re-Tattoo a book each time it comes in?

+1 Tattooing a book is pointless. Especially if you are a SS freak and keep breaking it out to have more names put on.

Certainly don't tattoo it with a tattoo gun.

And I could totally see myself doing the same thing.

I would even let it go for a green label as long as I was the one standing in line getting the sigs done.

:hi::hi::hi::hi:

:hi::hi::hi::hi::hi: I hate to sell books and only do so on rare occasions...ask a few of my boardie friends, they make fun of me because of my attachments. lol

:hi::hi::hi::hi::hi::hi:

(thumbs u to everyone ! It's nice to know collectors still exist.

C'mon man! You KNOW I'm a collector!

Provided of course the book is white pages and not some ow/w nonsense! Churn and burn that garbage!!! lol

And for the record, that's just a joke between bomber and I before all the PQ doesn't matter guys freak out (thumbs u

The "burn it" comment, might be the most absurd posting EVER on this forum. A JIM #83, that almost anyone and everyone who collects, would be happy to have in their collection. Or for later resale. Whom among us would not?

I suspect the originator of that statement, regrets he made it. Hence his "bow out".

I believe the same person suggested I pay CGC the difference in value if one of my books get a grade bump

I'll try next time and see what they say :screwy: , but Im guessing that paying them for a grade bump just might go against their policy

Hey, I've been told I have a second print of a Cherry Poptar #1 that is not on the CGC label. Does CGC owe me money ?!?

This is what this kind of thread attracts. All sorts of characters that will now expect reimbursement from CGC.

http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=15761&GSub=895

That is not a first print. Did you buy it expecting to be, because the easiest tell for the CP 1 is 2.00 cover price?

I read it as a question, not an answer. I've eliminated the doubt.

Yeah, I would not want my comics marked in any way. Just doesnt seem right.

I don't even like printer's ink on em. Just blank pages thank you. I know what the book is-that's all that matters.

Seeing as how all you :screwy: boardies have convicted CGC, you should gather your torches and pitchforks and head down to Sarasota.

This whole board/lemmings mentality is beyond dumb...I laugh at 95% of the posts in this thread....

As someone who only sells CGC'd books on his website I'd say you're hardly unbiased.

Staus quo much?

Not the status quo...just a realistic approach to an unrealistic expectation.

The fact that people here expect perfection from an imperfect product is laughable.

The only thing I agree w/in this entire thread is that CGC has a responsibility to handle the situation correctly...and that's on them and only them. Its not the responsibility of this community to determine what they should or shouldn't do..and casting stones before all the information is available is not only ignorant, but shows true colors by many.

Take it for what you want...if a mistake was made, is it the end of the world? No...my power still comes on, my fridge still keeps my food cold and I still have a roof over my head..

Its shameful all these first world problems us comic collectors and dealer's have...

Did you really just play the 1st world problems card?

Wow.

This whole thread makes me want to barf.

This whole hobby is making me sick.

It isn't the hobby.

It is the people in the hobby, including many that frequent these boards.

If I were a high grade collector, I would be looking for something else to fill my collecting jones.

No one expects perfection. That's not the problem here.

Are you honestly gonna tell me that this major SA key, with distinctive faults that a stink was made about and was talked about and shown To everyone in the building with grading credibility wasn't recognized a month later when resubbed?

I don't believe that for a second

Here's the thing: when faced with multiples of something you don't really have a vested interest in; you forget about it. For example, I work in I.T. and users, unasked, give me their passwords all the time. I have trained myself to forget them, instantly; otherwise, I would literally have hundreds of useless passwords wondering around in my poor abused brain. Unless the book is a true rarity like Double-Action Comics, these graders probably forget the book before they even leave the building for the night.

There are 3 ways you will EVER see my Avengers Peds for sale

1) a unbelievably unforeseen life changing event

2) my son selling them after I die

3) my ex somehow getting her hands back on them

;)

I have a bunch of soft core porn statues that say you need to add number 4.
