HA AUGUST 27-29 SIGNATURE AUCTION

671 posts in this topic

I keep watching these heritage auctions and they seem to my unscientific eye, to go so much higher than the comic connect or comiclink ones. Am I imagining this?

Nope, although Clink and CC also do very well. And having a live auction with an auctioneer helps.

Spellbound 14 :o

Wait til we get to the Weird Mysteries 5 in 8.0...

It would be interesting to know whether it's a relative handful of very deep-pocketed bidders driving these prices or whether it's widespread with a lot of people taking advantage of the opportunity to pick up a choice book or two in their collecting niche.

I think we've speculated before about whether there's an alphabet thing. Do books at the end of the alphabet go for less than they would because some bidders are tapped out by then? hm

I think it is more widespread than it would appear.

It's already reached five figures. Should be interesting to see if it matches earlier lots...

Auction fever hit I guess -- Fantastic 1 sits untouched for months at 15K on CL, then sells for 24K today on HA.

Like I have said in the past, this is an absolutely gorgeous copy of this book and almost 3-D like if you see it in person! :cloud9:

Sometimes, it's a matter of having just the right venue, plus unbridled auction fever also never hurts. lol

It truly is a spectacular book. I wonder who won it.

:cry::cry::cry:

Well, at least he's still got the dough, then. :D
