The whole house refinancing bit I interpreted (esp in context of the rest of the thread) as a bit of greed showing through on the family's part... they've seen some of the good prices lately and are hoping to get an nice cut. Nothing wrong with wanting a good price but that's a bit of them rubbing their hands in anticipation of the check I think. I think I read that the family is not so well off and if true it's probably a nice windfall for them even if it's mostly lesser pieces. Not that I have any particular knowledge of the situation; I am speculating

Apparently, CAF's Jerry S. (who uses his wife's FB account (Casey Petrillo) on the different FB art groups) will run the QH auctions on FB:

Get ready everyone. The Quinton Hoover collection is coming to auction over at the MtG Art Market. I will be running these on behalf of Patrick Hoover. Some of the most incredible pieces of Magic history will unfold right in front of your eyes. Here is a sneak peek. Enjoy.

Some pieces are not Magic related, and as such will be available in a separate group here: More Than Magic Art:

There is a lot of stuff. This isn't so much as a sales list as an opening of a vault. Magic history will be rewritten with some of the stuff in these auctions. But to answer your question, we will be rolling stuff out soon here at the Market.

So......... a bunch of prelims . Really good prelims though. It will be interesting to see what they get but it shouldn't blow the doors off.

Yeah, I'm guessing $3-5K for the alpha sketches, $5-8K for the portal forests. $3-5K for the other completed magic pieces. Wrath of God and Vesuvan Doppelgänger will go for more...maybe even $10K.

Oops, yeah, I see you edited - agreed re wrath, and of course, how could I forget vesuvan. Its too bad its one sided though. If it was a fuller drawing I could see it doing more but the fact its half blank has to hurt it.

For those interested in Magic art, there is going to be a show in Vegas dedicated to it. 4 pieces from my personal collection will be on display (you can even see them in the mock-up in the campaign).

Exciting events recently in the Magic art world.

Arcbound Ravager, played in every format it has ever been legal in, just sold for over $45K - https://www.facebook.com/groups/mtgartmarket/permalink/2174106076152933/

Serra Angel from the newest set Dominaria by Donato Giancola (first time back to the game in forever, and a true Master) is being auctioned on his site (ends tomorrow 6/7) - http://www.donatoart.com/auction/index.html

Next week Arcades Sabbath, Elder Dragon, from the Legends set will be auctioned off on the same Facebook group as Arcbound Ravager. I expect this to fetch a similar price. Different whales for this one as it has never really seen play in any constructed format, and will be entirely nostalgia driven.

My collection has evolved over the last year. You can always see what I own here - http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryfavoritesroom.asp?gfav=8240
