Cheaper Shipping Boxes help

44 posts in this topic

Hey guys, I've always been using post office supplies to ship my comics and I've had someone tell me to never buy retail but wholesale.

So far I found cheaper

Bubble wrap

Cardboard to use as filler I get this for free

The one thing that alludes me still is the slab shipping box I currently buy that from the post office and after taxes costs me about $6.20 per box which is way too expensive but I don't know of any other places right now. I have only managed to salvage bubble wrap and filler cardboard because the boxes I usually get are too damaged to reuse again.

The size slab box I use is 15in x 13in x4in

What wholesalers do you use?

I live in Canada for those that asked.

Thanks in advance

Priority mail boxes work fine for slabs.

The slab gets wrapped up and placed inside a 1092 box https://store.usps.com/store/browse/uspsProductDetailMultiSkuDropDown.jsp?productId=P_O_1092&categoryId=priority-mail

That box goes inside a 1095 box https://store.usps.com/store/browse/uspsProductDetailMultiSkuDropDown.jsp?productId=P_O_1095

Both are free, can be ordered in blocks of 25 each and delivered to your house at no charge.

:gossip: He needs poustal bouxes.

Oh, for international shipping?

I saw the Niagara Falls location and figured he was going over the border to ship.

That would have been a good piece of information to include. lol

Are you shipping from Canada or the USofA?

USPS offers free shipping supplies.

Canucks have to chop down there own trees and process, or

steal the prefab hotels off vagrants in downtown Toronto, and process.

There is no reason to pay for any shipping supplies except single-comic mailers and packing tape.

You can order everything else from the post office for free and have it shipped directly to your door as others have mentioned.

The only thing I buy once every 4 months or so is a huge bag of packing peanuts for the oddball-type items (because I don't sell just comics) or pre-cut thick cardboard when I don't feel like cutting up boxes.

Perhaps a quick call to CGC or Voldemort to find out where they buy their boxes. I've gotten a few shipments from both and their boxes work quite nicely.

I should have mentioned this earlier but I live in Canada I have a friend is the US that I ship stuff to but I wouldn't do me any good since I'd need it here.

Voldemort does have some nice slabbing boxes I'll ask thanks for the idea.

check out U-Line-- they have some packaging that might work and will be more affordable than what you state you are paying for shipping materials.

Since you are in Canada, the USPS shipping boxes would not be an option.

Thanks that was a option I was considering as well and it seems people think highly of them.

if you have one of those Voldemort shipping boxes, there should be some manufacturer info on the box somewhere so you can go to them directly.

I went to the office supply store a while back for some shipping supplies and found some very cheap little white boxes that are perfect for small comic orders. I think they came out to about a dollar each. They aught to fit about three slabs with plenty of space for bubble wrap. I'll grab a pic real quick. Got them at Staples but cannot remember the exact price. I think it was around $6 for a box of 6

Been using U - Line for years and years. Fast shipping and a variety of different sizes to fit any order. The S - 342 is my main shipping box, but I also use the S - 558, and the S - 4433 for larger orders or bigger size books.
