'Flaws' from signatures

4 posts in this topic

I've got a yellow THE MAXX ashcan (V1 I believe) and noticed there's some silver pen marks on the back cover that I can only assume were transferred from the cover of another copy.

Would that affect condition or would it be part of the original production (for want of a better expression).

Yes, it does affect the grade...sometimes quite a bit.

Sam apparently signed them all (all 8,550 or so of them) in one fell swoop, and stacked them. I don't think I've ever seen a copy without the ink smears on the back.

I've been tempted to try to remove them, but haven't yet.

most of the ashcans i've seen have a vertical crease from being stacked that way as well.

ibeforej has several in 9.6-9.8... i wonder if she'd be able to comment on the extent of ink smear on the back of her higher graded copies vs the others... the frames they're in might not let her see it.
