I remember buying Charlton at Woolworth as well. I remember them being in 3 packs. I still have them, opened of course. Not in good condition but has sentimental meaning to me.

Happy to know I wasn’t the only one looking for Charltons in Woolworth. Was always an interesting hunt since the newsstand was dominated by Marvel and DC. The people growing up in this internet age will never know the joy in collecting we had back then.

We had a Woolworths in our city ... it had a cafeteria ... i can still smell the distinctive smell of the cafeteria ... ,  they had great malts !!

SSWS 183 and 159 (not the actual copies shown below though) were two of my earliest war comics. My dad took me to my first comic show back around 1978/79 and I came home with a small stack of war comics.

Back in those days, comics for me was DC war, Richie Rich, Sad Sack,and Uncle Scrooge. Odd combo to be sure lol
