Saw it today. Pretty good. Same stuff as the original with a weaker plot but better effects.

Looks like it was a weak weekend across the board for new movies domestically. I wonder how much the start of spring break and people getting away for the weekend hurt box office results?

If you're the kind who enjoys analyzing movies and appreciates the nuanced intricacies that can be found in the details of the character development or plot, you're likely not going to think very highly of this movie. 

If you can shut your brain off and just want to watch huge monsters and robots go at it while you crunch on some popcorn, it's a pretty fun movie.

This movie will not hold up to heavy scrutiny...but for me it certainly qualifies for the category of "fun popcorn flick".

Saw this last night. Like Turtle said, it's a popcorn flick. Lots of fun. Sure it has a bad writing and a dumb plot. Yet, it still made me happy.

box office poison.  will have to rally to do $65MM US, China topping out at $100MM.  We've seen the last of these.
