Kenner Super Powers.....

33 posts in this topic

Saw there was some love for them in the one thread, figured I'd start a thread dedicated to them.

This was definitely my go-to toy as a child. I was desperate to collect them all right up until my religious mom tossed them all when she decided they were too violent.

But I showed her. As an adult, I rebought all of series 1 and 2 :D They are proudly on display in my editing suite.

Anyone else have a love for these guys? Post your pics - love to see your collection!

I was 19 or 20 when these first came out and had other priorities (i.e., beer, guitars, girls, weed), but I remember some of my nephews playing with them, and thought they were very, very cool, especially the Fourth World characters...

Great thread! These were a big part of my childhood, and couldn't resist picking up the Superman figure, along with the DC Superheroes one that came out a few years later in 1989. Still remember Christmas morning finding this badboy sitting under the tree.

I'm with ya on these, definitely my favorite toylines as well. Sitting in the Zellers restaurant up in Canada with my ma back in 1984 I decide to sneak over to the toy section. There on the shelf I stare up at BOTH Batman and Robin, I mean how can a kid resist? So I begged my ma, and she broke. The start of a life-long obsession! I have these babies up on my wall downstairs with my Golden Age babies and my Mego toys! Enjoy...

NICE! Totally reminds me of that era as well. My parents and I would have coffee Saturday morning at the local Co-op restaurant and I would always run over to the toy section in Co-op to see which Super Powers they had that I didn't.

I remember when the Clark Kent toy became available through mail-order only in the Sears catalogue - we didn't even have a Sears store in my small town, but they had a booth at a strip mall you could order their products from. Ah memories....

Here you go. I had one of the largest SP collections ever assembled, if not the largest. Sorry for the quality on some of the pics...my camera sucked at the time and these pics are like 7 years old.

We had the Secret Wars line in the shelf next to Super powers here in the U.K and I still have the lot except that I opened the cards. However they are still beauties and a great set of toys.

Secret Wars, you say? :-(
