That is some great stuff. I wasn't aware you dealt in OA (my bad) until I saw something recently about the ASM 129 page. Giving these boards an early heads up when you have an auction about to start would be a great idea IMO.

Thanks, good suggestion. We've posted auction announcements on the boards over in the comics market forum for a while, and will also post here in art when we've got an art auction group closing.

Original Art for Amazing Spider-Man (1st Series) Issue 129, Page 32 by Ross Andru, Frank Giacoia, Dave Hunt, and John Constanza

Now over $10k

I wonder what the estimated final sale/value is? I'd speculate it has to be over $50k if not nearing (possibly exceeding) $100k potentially.

This auction seemed underneath the radar to most collectors.

I wonder if it would command higher dollars if put up at ComicLink or Heritage where it's more high profile viewing to the right set of wealthy collector's eyes?

I think at this point it's fair to say it's no longer under the radar

Wow $29k for the ASM 129 page

I thought the splash for #139 went for a reasonable price

Yup, I was watching this one closely. If Rick thought it was going to reach 50K, then someone got a deal.

If all my collectibles combined were valued at 30K, I'd sell them all, buy this page then just retire from the hobby. :cloud9:

$29K is a reasonable price, a great panel page with just Spidey went for 16K on HA not too long ago, so $29K for a page with Spidey and Punisher is reasonable.

Malvin

That 16k HA page also had Punisher, but in a trenchcoat with no visible chest skull.

29k for this piece is a strong price for MCS; doubt it would have done better on HA or CLink.

I think most lots did well. The Punisher page might have gotten more bids at a well publicized auction, but 29k is nothing to sneeze at. It just goes to show that good art draws buyers.

I'm not sure that I agree about the Novick splash getting a lot of love. I think an early Silent Knight splash would have cost you the same price ten years ago. Ditto for the Eisner Spirit story.

Congrats to the winner of the ASM #129 page. $29,000 was a strong price. I had to back out at $26,000 and was the high bidder for awhile. I thought maybe i would luck out and this auction would fly under the radar. I think it might have done a little better at HA but the high buyer's premium and sellers commission would have offset any other potential profit.

When I saw the ASM #129 page it made me wonder if it was a recent submission to MCS or if Buddy bought this piece back in the 70's for 50 bucks! lol I've got to imagine he's got a lot of cool stuff stashed away! hm

Great page from a key Spidey, it won't be going down in value, that's for sure!

It was consigned with us, not Buddy's, but otherwise your guess sounds about right. Consigned by a former comic shop owner who I think had it a long time before deciding to sell.

As far as what Buddy has stashed away--some of his best art he sold around 2000-2001 to help pay for me to go to college. doh!

I concur, this is an excellent suggestion! (unless it is Hulk art - nobody wants that so you can just PM me directly )
