its weird that animal deaths hit so much harder than people in comics for me, pride of Baghdad and WE3 hit me big time. another lesser known is a back up story in an early marvel fanfare with daredevil and a young blind kid and his dog. I cried like a baby.

I forgot about Stegron. That was actually pretty sad to read as a kid.

Death Of Captain Marvel, for sure. Solemn event.

But the one that keeps coming back to me was the death of Phoenix. That really sunk in for me.

Putting aside the obvious ones, I was quite put out when Stegron bought it. You'd have had to have had a heart of stone to not shed a tear as his little Stegron claw sunk under that icy cold water....

I always found the death of Captain Stacy more upsetting than Gwen.

I agree. Much more poignant.

The final page of issue 122 is also quite poignant, and gives MJ's character more depth.

MTIO 34 is a great call I had forgotten about.

ASM 121

Death of CM

FF191

The Last Avengers Story

x-Men 137 (Though to this day I want to see a What If where the Beast has an a-ha moment and calls in his Avengers buddies and Thor, Iron Man, Cap, Wondy, the Vision et al mop the floor with the imitation Legion).

And, in a good way, Avengers #4 when the cop on the street spots Cap.

+1 On the Last Avengers Story. That has to be one of the most underrated Marvel stories of all time. So many amazing moments.

Also, I don't cry, but if I did Amazing Spider-man #400 when Aunt May tells Peter that she's always known he was Spider-man right before she dies....Damn. That was about as emotional as it gets. At the time I was convinced she would stay dead (obviously folly) and it was extremely impacting. That Peter Pan moment...ugh. I'm going to have to dig that out and read it again.

What effect do all these tears have on the grade of a comic?

Good point Harry. Hopefully Ken Dodd's in tonight and will give us his thoughts soon ?

I always thought his song 'Happiness' was an exercise in innuendo, judging from the lyrics.

God, I'm so old now.

I know!

Did you know he wrote the lyrics to Bohemian Rhapsody?

Sounds like a Wiki error to me.

Happiness, happiness, the greatest gift that I possess
I thank the Lord I've been blessed
With more than my share of happiness

He's obviously bragging.

You were supposed to say "Diddy?" Ken. :makepoint:
