This came up recently on my local Craigslist.

He is asking $5000. Is it worth it?

There is a better picture on ebay of this same book if people are interested. I'd make sure it's the same seller before meeting for a deal. 

I don't know what FMV on this book is these days, but even with a married centerfold, it will never be better than a 1.0, and while I don't generally consider minor resto much of a factor in comics this low grade, the added corner piece is pretty obvious. Personally, I'd be hesitant to pay any more than 30% of unrestored 2.0 FMV, but I've noticed with pricey keys, there is a floor that few books fall below.

Ok. I checked the online price guide (and I am not sure how accurate it is) but a .5 condition (poor) is still valued at $1400. So $5000 is way off base IMO.

Certainly not worth it especially restored.

What online price guide did you check? As rjpb was saying all keys have a base buy in cost.  This book has say on ebay for a long time at 7kish before he jumped the price.  I would pay 3k for this book in a heart beat.  I dont think it was ever on ebay at 5k.  I dont think your ever going to see a nearly complete copy of this book under that price.

this is assuming the craigs list post isnt fake...

For myself, the answer would be "NO".  I have no idea on value but the book is just too low of a grade.  I would never be happy with it.

Better look at GPA instead. If this is a real listing and you don't think that you will ever spend $10+ plus to buy another copy then I would say, yes.

I would use GPA, Ebay or Heritage recorded sales. Comics price guide has completely unrealistic prices IMO.

i think only you can answer if its worth it to you.  this is a seriously cool and historically important book to be sure.  if i purchased it i would probably crack it out of the plod slab but make note of the resto should it ever be sold.  personally it has a little too much going on so i would pass and i imagine most of the folks in the ga section here would feel the same.  if you want to spend 5k on a wonder woman key buy a blue sensation 6
