Those are very cool!  It would be even cooler if we were able to locate the exact copy of one of the books pictured.

My photo album contains pictures from Jerry Bails.  As you probably know, he photographed most of the golden age comics that contained superhero stories.  He sold these black and white copies and prepared microfilm to save the interior stories.  The microfilm library is at Michigan State University.  Additional microfilm that belonged to Jerry was sold on ebay several years ago.  I have the early Detectives in black and white as well as early All Star comics which were photographed in color.   I think your albums belonged to a collector who purchased the photographs from Jerry back in the sixties.

BB-Gun, thank you very much for the info. Did not know that; only vaguely knew about comics at the university. Gotta love the boards for the history that can be learned here. Gracias again!

You have a lot of those covers, more than me.  I don't know how big the original collection was but you must remember those of us that didn't live through the golden age had never seen the covers before.  I was happy to get a black and white copy of the Master Comics and Captain America covers.  Fanzines didn't use a lot of Photo offset reproduction and little was known about the content of many issues because it was constantly changing.  Jerry gave us photos, indexes and stories first and then identified the writers and artists.  The first part still continues but identification of the artist and writers was started early before everyone became too old.  Fortunately Bill Schelly has been keeping track of who did what and when, I think.:preach:

Back in the mid 90s the Marvel one was given to me as a gift. Years later when I took the plunge down the rabbit hole of GA collecting, the two volume set was top of the list to get. Invaluable books in my small reference library. Speaking of which, maybe a thread where folks show off their resource materials... here's mine.
