Problem with this type of stuff . . . it's very easy to fake.  The piece you show *might* be genuine . . . then again, it might *not*. 

If you're planning a purchase, do you think you can live with the element of doubt that will always exist at the back of your mind?

If I had to guess, it looks legitimate.  I have a feeling it was a very quick convention sketch.  The To Gerard also lends some credence to it being a quick conventional sketch, given that a faker wouldn't want to add a name, since you need to fake his hand writing style, and devalue it by adding a name.  I assume you got it from here https://auction.catawiki.com/kavels/12217337-original-sketch-of-wolverine-by-john-romita-sr-marvel-comics
