Ghost 6 7.5 sold for 4355  good grief

Wow, good grief is right!

Next to the price on the Cap 1 1.5, this might have been the most surprising result in this auction.

I only got this, other ones went higher than I wanted to spend right now.

They almost all go higher than you want to spend.  But spend it anyway! :baiting:

Nice book!

My friend asked if Hidden Valley was the Salad Dressing collection?

The guy had an Action 1, but apart from that a few others, most of his collection was pretty pedestrian.  Breaking it out also made the auction choppy by having different books in the same run (Caps, for instance) closing on different nights.

I didn't like that the collection was separate from the other books.  I missed a few things...

I've never liked extended bidding.  Missed a few more things.

 I spent too much in the clink auction

Are you unaware that banks grant second mortgages? :)

Im gonna assume that Spirit 22 (PLOD 2.5) will get resubed so it can go into a Conserved holder.  Looks like bidders all assumed a value bump with a $1355 final hammer. Wonder if it can have the tear seals and tape removed and get all the way back to universal.

I talked to the winner of the 2.5, That is the plan.

Im surprised the 4.0 didn't fetch a little more. Book seems to be on the rise, but if memory serves it went around the last recorded sale.

I was going go make a run at the 1.8 Silver streak 6, But over 5k was more then I was willing to spend on that particular copy. My 4.5 blue didn't cost a ton more then that earlier this year (private sale).

agreed. I thought the recent 3.5 sale for almost the same price ($2100) would have pushed the 4.0 up toward 2500, but at these lower grades, its all about how it presents, and the 4.0 did have a chunk out of the corner so maybe the 3.5 presented better...

Very true, It wasn't the nicest looking 4.0.

Me too... until I realized the same. CC sold it over last summer for half the final hammer, but it was a 1.0 CGC at the time:

Definitely some color touch.

The copy last night had old tape down the spine  don't think they where the same copy

They sure look like the same book to me. Damage across the top is identical. The spine damage points are nearly identical if you assume some color touch occurred. Even the discoloration on the spine is the same.

Not trying to be argumentative, I just think it's important not to dismiss this sort of thing.

This sale ensured that I'll personally be staying away from books graded by that company.

Also, look at the unprinted parts of the backs and you'll see several marks and a line that match.

I was going to ask what the hammer was on the SS6.  Any copy is a great copy but that thing hammered over $5k?!?!  wow.  if that is the case this book has seen an incredible ppp rise in 2017.
