Because NO ONE is going to care about this slop 10 years form now. The original SW series isn't "lighting in a bottle" it's someone that cared about the craft of movie making. I believe THAT'S why it has been a staple of pop culture for so long. The original Trilogy is so fresh it could be released today and crush anything out there - even with the rubber masks on much of the aliens. I see this as a guide of many years to come on what NOT to do with a franchise. This reminds me of what hollywood did to original planet of the apes. The first movie was a 10 out of 10 classic with a twilight zone twist ending. The others movies that followed in the 70's were nothing but a cash grab. And then there was the marky mark 2000 turdfest and finally the people at hollywood got it... and made a series of ape movies that were re-watchable with Rise, Dawn and War. paperheart Posted December 5, 2019 Share Posted December 5, 2019 Distribution sources always say that people don’t begin to go to the movies until after Christmas, however, Disney’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is the exception to that rule (and possible even Jumanji: The Next Level with a $30M+ start, maybe more). Skywalker is still looking at a $200M+ debut, though some firms are playing it safe and calling it lower at $175M when it opens on Dec. 20. a $175MM open and TLJ-like 2.8x multiple, gets you to $500MMish US. The class is specifically about how to avoid writing a terrible screenplay like TLJ. It apparently explains all of its failings as a screenplay like being emotional dead and completely disjointed.
