Fight Against Crime #6.  This book has very carefully applied pinpricks of color touch in the red on the right edge (the pinpricks of color have soaked through).  It's a shame as it's super glossy/super fresh with gorgeous colors and pages and would grade 8.0 without the extra "help".

Price $125 (note:  color touched it)

I've been looking for this book for 18 years!

Shocking Mystery #55 Spokane Copy.  The most shocking aspect of this copy is how spectacularly red it looks when viewed out of the mylar.  Interior pages are fresh as snow and the defects are of a type to not interfere with the appeal of this comic.  I'm probably asking a record price for this comic but I doubt there is any copy that will ever glow like this one.

Census:  One in 8.5 and one in 6.5.  This raw 8.5 copy with white pages is $3000.

New Adventures of Charlie Chan #4:  Chan was originally created by Earle Biggers inspired loosely by the exemplary career Apana Chang.  Learn about Chang's storied history with the Honolulu Police Dept here:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chang_Apana

This title was edited by Julie Schwartz who contributed many filler pages on historical and science based educational topics (see the handsome Lou Cameron page on stars).  The stories are by John Broome, who was Julie's favorite scripter and who's writing required very little editing.  Interior art was by Sid Greene who was more often use as an inker in the Silver Age but was capable of fine work as can be seen in the splash example below.

Census:  Two in 8.5 and one in 7.5. These have been difficult to find in grade and are listed as scarce in Overstreet.  This 8.5 raw copy with off-white pages is $650.

Navy Action 5.  If you are looking are for a cover fitting with the July 4th holiday this WWII amphibious landing by Russ Heath would be a perfect fit.  Heath is my favorite war artist, working extensively for both DC and Atlas, and is known for the high quality of his art and attention to detail with respect to accuracy of arms and equipment.

Census:  Only one copy slabbed at 6.5.  This 8.0 with some light tanning at the edges of the front cover and cr/ow pages is $400.

Strange Suspense Stories 20 Church Copy:  Ditko's early work is cruder than it would be later but there's a youthful energy and considerable story-telling skills that he had developed under the tutelage of Jerry Robinson that more than make up for it.  This issue includes two of his stories in addition to the cover.  The color intensity of this Church copy is incredible, though it's not just due to it being stored in Edgar's basement.

Charlton printed their own comics on a press that had been built to print cereal boxes.  Their quality control was non-existent and, if they ran low on pigment, they just diluted it and kept on printing.  This copy must have been printed at the start of the run as the green, reds and blues are bright and show well against a very white cover.  One of the higher graded copies was the Northford which looks rather dull in comparison to this copy, mostly due to it being printed with the limp inks.

Census: 1 in 9.6, 1 in 9.4 and 1 in 9.0.  This old label CGC 9.0 white was graded in the very early days of CGC and there's very little to complain about other than a couple very light bends.  It certainly looks better than vf/nm which is yours for $1600.

The label will be shipped with the comic.

Amazing Adv 4 White Mountain:  The WM run of Amazing Adv and Amazing Adult Fantasy was sold through Sothebys as part of the same auction that offered the WM copy of Amazing Fantasy 15. The winner of the two titles was the very disappointed under-bidder of the AF 15 and, as a result, later sold the set.  This WM AA4 is the kind of copy that disappoints me when I see it in a slab as the plastic diminishes the pleasure of viewing such a pretty book.  That is why it was de-slabbed after I bought it enabling the next owner to see it in its natural state.  Census:  1 in 9.0 and 2 in 8.5.  De-slabbed CGC 8.5 white for $1800.

Label will be shipped with the comic.  Yellow line down the center of the book is a scanner artifact.

World's Finest 59: These 68 page giants are bear to find in decent shape and you'll have a hard time doing better than this attractive copy.  Joker takes on the Batman in the solo Batman story at end of the comic.

Census: One in 8.0, one in 7.5 and two in 6.5.  This raw 7.5 copy is only $900.
