I didn't remember ever seeing any PGX on HA so I did a quick search with keyword PGX across all comics.  One modern available for immediate sale and there were two prior sales.  Both modern age -

October, 2017 - lot of four CGC graded Bats plus a PGX BA Bats (from the Don Rosa Collection per the PGX label)

December, 2012 -  a CGC Grimm Fairy Tales along with a PGX graded copy of the same title.

Thought I qualified “vintage”. (thumbsu

Rick I wasn't at all disregarding or contradicting your statement.  I just wanted to see what PGX overall HA listed which obviously wan't many.

Apologies if it was perceived that way.

Thanks.

Was going to bid strong on the Action 53 on CL, but I got the notes and it has a rusty staple.  My enthusiasm is deflated.  :(

So a book with a rusty staple can still be an 8.5, but something with a dime size stain on the back cover is no better than a 6.0.  Gotcha.  Makes total sense. :screwy:

The Chinese figures might be stereotypes, but if that cover is considered racist, then I'm pretty sure every Young Allies would have to be called racist.

I believe it's the over-exaggeration of their "Asian" physical features as stereotypical  for the time -- look at the other "war" covers with Japanese pilots, etc, the features are exaggerated to the point of looking cartoonish/foolish/mocking

which, yes, makes one wonder why all WWII depictions are not classified as "racist"

I don't find the depiction of the Chinese men on the cover of Supes 45 to be racist, foolish, or mocking.

The depiction of Japanese soldiers on many WW2 covers is a different story. There was certainly an effort to dehumanize the enemy during the war.

You mean like this copy of Black Terror which they have in today's CL Auction:

I have always liked the Black Terror covers I think he has a classic super hero costume.

Looks like CL has a couple of the Black Terror books on this go round later today, while CC will have a few of the rarer HTF Exciting books with the Black Terror covers in their CC Auction tomorrow.  Love the Green colors in combination with the red and yellows on this cover, even though there is a bunch of messy signatures on the front.  :luhv:

Wonder how trimming will effect the price on the Action 1 ?

Not too sure about the impact of trimming on Action 1, but those prices for the early Action's that are closing on CL is certainly nothing to write home about.

Looks like quite a few of them are going for only around guide, with some even at a big discount to condition guide prices.  I wonder if this has to do with the thinking that CL is really more of a BA and CA specialist, as opposed to a GA specialist which they seem to have just picked up on with the heightened prices for GA books in the past year or so.  hm

On a 150k plus book trimming would affect more the value than the other Actions which are so rare and affordable. People just want one to own.

The Action 1  is where there are more picky buyers who like to get the best of the best.

Wrong. Bad information! (About GA being a 'recent' phenomenon on CL. Way wrong.)

Well, that's one of the major problems with the CL auction website is the total lack of transparency in terms of providing ready access to historical results from their previously completed auctions.  :frown:

Notwithstanding that, I am 99.9% certain that the proportion of GA listings that they used to have relative to their BA and CA listings a couple of years ago is significantly smaller and probably a fraction of what their auction offerings are in their current auctions.  (shrug)

Either way, it's certainly good on the part of collectors like us that their auction offerings are covering a much more broader spectrum.  (thumbsu

The Blue Bolt 105 made a 7k jump today... 30k is definitley not out of the question.  Will be fun to see where this lands.

I'm thinking closer to 40k

Well, I guess we'll all find out in about half a hour from now.  :taptaptap:

The one that I am waiting for is this little beauty here which is tough to beat when it comes to in-demand GA books:  :cloud9:

Peter;

Looks like you was pretty much bang on as it jumped from $25,200 all the way up to $37,500 right at the end of the auction.  (thumbsu

Aaargh! $37,500 I wish this one was a good ol' fashion bidding war. My under bid was exactly $1k less, so I'm assuming the buyers max was at least a little higher. Amazing piece - congrats to whomever took it :sorry:
