Question for Mitch, in case he's reading this;

How did you and Theo arrive at the price of $1,801.26 for the Action #1, as opposed to a rounder figure like $1,800. Did that just happen to be how much cash you had on hand, or is there some other explanation?

Thanks,

-Supes

Mitch has said the comic was 1800 and shipping was 1.26. Hence shipped total

One would think shipping would have been free on that book.

The 25k sales to Dave Anderson did incude Action 1-24, right?

No, it was for the number one only and then 2-10 were in a similar deal for the same price.

You can date the Allentown Detective 27 sale to March 1990 since that is when CBG reported on it.

I love the $1.26 shipping charge. They had registered mail in 1973, but I don't know how much it would have cost. I wonder if that's the service they used? Action #1 weighs, what, about 8-9 ounces? I don't have one handy to weigh. 1 oz first class was 8c.

I wonder if it was sent in a cardboard sandwich. :D

Unformatted current data. I'd like to get more info about any books that are YYYY-01-01. Even getting just spring, summer fall or winter would be great, month would be better. The ones that were mentioned in the news should be possible, at least. I don't need down to the minute, just a better time-frame than "sometime in YYYY" Anyone have a folder on their computer fill of the AP stories :wishluck:

you missed the 1982 bruce hamilton Action one sale  price. I was at that trade and bruce hamilton stayed at my house after with the books and I remember him calling Russ. The trade started when Bruce traded "dangerous discovery" painting by carl barks for a stack of high grade GA. In that stack, was Action one....and I think was a copy that was acquired from Larry Bigman who got it from irving bigman, Larry was a doctor in Sacramento at the time as I recall, I think theo paid record price at the time, but I cannot verify how much he paid.....we migh be able to track that sales price, I cannot remember $12,500 or 17,500 thru an add in the comic buyers guide, if somebody can pull that up, he adveristied it as a VF copy or higher....
