Curious to know others thoughts on what the "estimated/theoretical value" would be of the Universal 9.2; given the recent sale of the 9.8 (for $37.5K) and 7.5 (for 6.9K). 15K to 20K? (shrug)

Of course there are variables but looking for "shots in the dark"...

  • Currently Graded there is:
    • 1x 9.8.
    • 2x 9.2's (one Q)
    • 2x 8.0's
    • 3x 7.5's

Can anyone imagine what a 9.8 copy of Ghostly Weird 122 would go for?

I see a number with many zeroes.

If a Universal 9.2 goes to auction sometime soon, I'll throw out a guess of $10K. I'm obviously a fan of this issue, but even so I see the 9.8 price as kind of a crazy outlier. Time will tell I guess!

I am still surprised that an 8.0 (if I am correct) is still the highest graded copy. I think that like Matt Baker most of the best stuff still remains raw. Collectors of both artists just aren’t interested in selling the best covers once they got them.

For years the 8.0 Cosmic Aeroplane copy was the highest graded.

Back in March a 8.5 copy showed up on eBay with a bin under $3000. I missed it by about 5 minutes!

It’s possible, but it’s not on the Mile High master list.

Unlikely.  Church collection stops being very comprehensive sometime in 1952.

+1

I would also tend to agreed with you here as the MH Catalogue indicates his run going up to Blue Bolt #118 after skipping BB #117.

Of course, it's also possible that the title change to Ghostly Weird Stories might have thrown Chuck for a bit of a loop in terms of his catalogue since it was such a late short run.  (shrug)
