Detective Comics 39-50 0

I know there are A lot of Robin haters out there a la the Dark Knight wasn’t so “dark” anymore. I just finished issues 39-50 for the first time and I have to say they seem very reminiscent of Tecs 27-37 IMO.

I've long thought #39 was a real sleeper in terms of content. Very violent "Oriental hatchet men" story that would easily fit in the #27-37 run, where Robin seems like more of an afterthought.

My favorite issus is 44 by far.  Love the cover.

Next would probably be issue 50

Fav covers are 43 and 44. Fav stories are 42, 45,48 and 50

So how do the early Bats compare to these early Tecs ?  Post Bats 1 I mean. Bats 2,3,4, etc.

In the early days, it seemed the darker material went into Detective Comics.  Batman seemed to have mostly lighter stories, with a few exceptions.

The Joker stories in Batman 2 and 4 are in the earlier style. But Detective definitely had the spooky early style of the Pre Robin books. World's Best 1, with the story "The Witch and the Manuscript of Doom", also seems to fit in with the earlier books.
