PGM Giant Size X-Men #1 8.0 Agree? 1 1

Hello all. I’m new to graded comics, and I’m looking forward to meeting the community, lurking the boards, and learning the ropes. 

I thought I’d start out with my Giant Size X-Men #1 to put my grading skills(lack of) to the test. I hope my pictures are ok.

I see a pretty structurally sound book. Off white interior pages. Main defects are color scuff/wear on the staple near 68 in the banner. The cover may have a dullness to it. Some subtle jaggedness due to the cover ever so slightly over hanging the interior pages. I’m sure I’m missing things. My grade is an 8.0. 

Would this book benefit from a press and/or cleaning?

Great book. Your grade seems right on or very close, unless there is rumpling or creasing that the photos aren't picking up.

small areas of color loss on the spine, tiny cover creases 9non CB) upper left corner, minor overhang of cover, mildly rounded corners.  Good call on the grade

I don't want to be the bearer of bad grades but I don't see an 8.0. It just isn't as sharp, there some spine wear and edge wear. The white has some dirt spots it seems. For me I am closer to a 7.0 but obviously hope I am wrong.

I would still clean and press it, I'm at 7.0-8.0.

I'm at a solid 8.0. Welcome to the boards and GL with the grade.

My initial thought was 7.5, but I notice on the back cover near the spine what might be 2 indentations where someone previously stapled the spine and then removed the staples. The top staple might correspond with some scuffing or damage to the front cover in the yellow banner by the “68”.

Or am I crazy? That is a strong possibility.

looking at the OP images before the slab images I was thinking 7.0 and 7.5 with press and clean.

Question did you have it pressed and cleaned?

I think I was better as I was at 7.0 pre press and 7.5 after press and OP confirmed he had it pressed and cleaned.
