I agree that I will only pay what I want to or think it is worth to me. It is just so frustrating to put in a monster bid and get shut out time after time. Plus you have to figure in the BP, Taxes, Fees and Shipping in addition to have to complete with people who either have to "win" at all costs or have more money than God. At the end of the day, you sit with the item and it has just lost a lot of it's lustre.

There are many ways to spend my money. HA and most of the big auction houses just aren't on my list much anymore.

But the auction doesn't just take place in Texas; it's worldwide due to the internet component. Maybe a live shill bidder can't be prosecuted, but anyone who puts in a shill bid electronically (i.e., online) can, as I understand it, be prosecuted under federal wire fraud laws. One guy got serious prison time for shill bidding on a (six-figure) baseball card.

Beautiful copy for the grade. Supes 1 has my favorite cover of all major GA keys. Love the simplicity and almost art nouveau design of the cartouche. It's great.

No back cover scan yet, but that's most definitely a superb looking copy from the front cover scan, relative to it's assigned CGC 3.5 grade.  :luhv:

Definitely, not a good idea on the part of both the consignors and HA to put 2 copies of this supposedly relatively rarer GA key up for sale in the same auction though. doh!

Holy cow, is the back totally shredded or something, or is the scan blurring out all sorts of stuff?  That's the nicest front cover of a Superman 1 I've ever seen, let alone the nicest 3.5 Superman 1 I've ever seen.

If you'd said this was an IGB monstrosity, I would've believed it.
