Even more incredible art added to the upcoming HA Signature Auction, including a killer Ditko Hulk 6 battle page, a Brunner Marvel Premiere (Dr Strange) cover, Romita Sr ASM splash ("The Horns of the Rhino"), all in the 'Miscellaneous' section.

Also added yesterday, a Miller Dark Knight page, Johnny Craig Vault of Horror cover, and several Robert Crumb pieces.

Bidding starts in exactly one month so the deadline to consign for this auction should be coming to a close sometime this week, and with only ~120 lots, perhaps bidding will be fierce as there are less pieces to distract potential bidders?

Very interested to see how this plays out.

Thoughts?

D-I-C-K O, feel free to include your price guestimates here, before the auction begins.

I think its time you give up the charade.  I read your articles and they are all reactive, post-auction 'estimates' rather than predictive.  your info isn't valuable at all.

Richard is to the OA Market as Electrek is to Tesla and the EV market - it's all about painting the OA market in the best light possible. And if that means making $50K Larsen ASM covers seem totally not surprising at all, cheap even, so be it!

I mean that in the nicest way possible. :foryou:

Any prognostication on the Frankenstein plate? With last years profiles auction taking the big one just past a million bucks, I was thinking this one might fly pretty high too, potentially higher than it would/should otherwise.

I think 500k isnt entirely out of bounds. i.e. if i won the lottery tomorrow i'd take it that high.. but i'm completely a wrightson fan boy.

Wrightson is not an artist I collect, but I'll guess closer to $100-150k range

Hmm, I love wrightson but I'm bearish on his frankenstein stuff, I have no connection with it.   I'll say somewhere in the middle at 200-240 maybe?   Its endpapers so its more memorable than a standard plate I presume.    otherwise I'd be with J Sid at 100-150

My articles are meant to inform readers of the current market state.

Really?  If  you truly and honestly expected the ASM 340 cover to go for $50K, I'd like to hire you as my OA consigliare, to provide insight and guidance on OA purchases because information such as this is valuable.

That's right, this information you have to pay for.

And as always, I encourage OA collectors to share and spread their love for our hobby any way they can. Our favourite past time deserves way more coverage than it currently gets!

Did Ayers ink a lot of Romita's stuff?  How do people feel about his work over JRs compared to the usual suspects?

Am I on the crack again or did this page just sell a few auctions ago for a pretty hefty price?

Absolutely!  and since you're so good at predictive valuations, it would be a shame to share your wisdom only with me.  So let's help you reach out to a larger paying audience by providing us with your valuations for the following pieces in the upcoming HA auction, with variance of +/- 10%:

1.  Wrightson Frankenstein:  https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/bernie-wrightson-mary-wollstonecraft-shelley-s-frankenstein-front-endpapers-illustration-ori/p/7229-68001.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515

2. Wood DD 5 Splash: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/wally-wood-daredevil-5-splash-page-1-original-art-marvel-1964-/p/7229-79003.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515

3. Zeck Spec Spidey cover: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/mike-zeck-and-bob-mcleod-spectacular-spider-man-132-cover-original-art-marvel-1987-andlt-/p/7229-73004.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515

4. Sim Cerebus cover: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/dave-sim-cerebus-15-cover-and-preliminary-with-color-original-art-aardvark-vanaheim-1980-total-2-/p/7229-73011.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515

5. Aparo B&B splash: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/jim-aparo-brave-and-the-bold-192-splash-page-1-batman-and-superboy-original-art-dc-comics-/p/7229-93001.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515

Once folks realize how close your valuations are to the final hammer price (+BP), I'm certain you'll end up with a lot of paying customers, just clamoring for your services, right? Right!

This one is pretty spectacular.  Question is whether it has a reserve.

i do think it's one of the most memorable of the bunch, for sure. And it's been used in other books, like creepy presents: bernie wrightson for instance, where it's also used as end papers.
