BigDaddy1
I finally pulled the trigger on buying an Amazing Spider-Man #121 at one of my LCS today, and am curious to hear what other people say about the condition of the book! Also, can anyone explain the blue dots along the bottom right of the front cover? I am not fully certain on whether it’s foxing, but am curious to hear what you think or know it is. Thank you in advance! Edited June 14, 2020 by BigDaddy1 aKyleT and 1950's war comics
makeminemarvel
It's a beauty. I am probably not good toward the high end of the grading scale but I'll venture a 9.2. Maybe a clean to bump? Not sure of the blue dots. BigDaddy1
theCapraAegagrus
9.0+ IMO. BigDaddy1
newstand fresh
Looks like a rub from another cover instead of foxing...Might come off with a cleaning.... 9.0-9.2 without the cleaning...9.2-9.4 with cleaning-IMO... BigDaddy1 and oldrover
1950's war comics
8.5-9.0 ?? !! BigDaddy1 and FoggyNelson
comicginger1789
I think 9.0 seems good. If that spottyness can be cleaned at all, definitely the potential for a tad higher. If it cannot and is staining/foxing, it could dip to 8.5ish. Either way, congrats and its a nice book! BigDaddy1

BigDaddy1
Got my book back today. I am surprised at the grade being a 7.5! The grader’s notes for the book are: Moderate distribution ink whole book tear with crease right top of back cover very light creasing to cover very light spine stress to cover The ink issue I did not think was going to hurt the grade as much, though I had thought it was foxing initially. I’m still happy with the book and that I have one in my collection, I never thought the ink distribution would affect the book’s grade. I’ll just take this as a learning experience and be more aware. Thank you to everyone that commented! Also, quick question for anyone: how do I change the title to let people know the grade of the book came back? OuterboroGuy
That is one of the nicest 7.5's I have ever seen. Harsh grade for that copy! Jim Baird and BigDaddy1

Sorry @BigDaddy1 a 7.5 for that book is a tough grade. I didn’t see the Dist. Ink on your pics in the initial post. It doesn’t show as moderate for sure. For what it’s worth, here’s my thoughts on the grade deductions (Start at 10.0): Moderate distribution ink whole book -.4 tear with crease right top of back cover -.6 for crease & -.8 for tear very light creasing to cover - .4 very light spine stress to cover -.4 Grade would be 7.4 You had this book cleaned and pressed by a professional? The reason I ask is because it looks like there are waves on the bottom edge of the BC in the slab. These could be from a bad pressing. May be an optical illusion from the photo, When you look at the BC in the slab do you see what I’m talking about? BigDaddy1
@ChrispyC66, I had it pressed at one of my LCS stores, and I usually trust them with the pressing. And thank you for the tip on updating the post! I do see the waves too on the bottom of the back cover, I am debating on whether to just keep it as is or resend to CGC and have CGC press it themselves (and try my luck haha). As for the ink, I do think it was there before, if you look closely at where they are in my first post the blue ink is there (next to MJ's face, some in the CCA stamp, the top edge of the back cover), it was there, I didn't really think about it to be honest. My LCS thinks that this copy was from a newsstand, and was supposed to be inked blue on the top area of the comic, and the ink got on the front and back of the comic during the application. He also agreed that CGC was harsh on the grading too. Edited June 15, 2020 by BigDaddy1 ChrispyC66
