A pretty much perfect BA story, with a great ending. Exceptional.

If the question is Conway or O’Neil, my initial reaction is to go with Gerry Conway.  If we’re looking for a top 5-10 I’d like to toss Doug Moench into the conversation with ones already mentioned.

He created Eternals

New Gods

Both Bronze age masterpieces

He was an amazing Bronze age writer

Also, his masterwork upon returning to Marvel; Devil Dinosaur.

I don't know about best, but my favorite writers by a mile when I hit my teens (1980) were Claremont and Miller. At the time, I honestly couldn't have even told you who wrote the other comics I read.

Sorry but you are  mistaken. 'King Solomon's Frog' in Black Panther #1 by Kirby was much more offensive to my BA B| senses.

I’m partial to Starlin.

I’ve seen from your slabs that you’re a big fan.

The first 2 that came to mind for me were Wein and Englehart, and then Roger Stern.  I also liked Michael Fleisher.

Starlin was definitely a formative influence when I was 18 and moved into my own place.
