Reholder Disclaimer

I was recently going to submit a cgc signature comic to get a new holder. When I was filling out the form, a disclaimer came up saying that my comic may get a lower grade or even damage the book. My question is why would I want to grade my comics, if the protective case I thought was protecting my comics has the potential to cause damage?

Thank you for your post. While the case and inner well are designed to protect the item damage can still occur from rough handling, shipping, drops, or extreme temperatures. Our graders inspect the books prior to removing them for the reholder service. In the rare case that they deem a book to be damaged we will need to properly evaluate the book and assign the new grade.
