I collect only books from 1939-1945 that have WWII covers. The first books I would grab before some disaster hit would be ones that have real historical value. My two Okajima camp books and Cap 46 fit this description. Then I’d grab the books I love too much to ever let go: Prize 23, Miss Fury 2, All Select 1, More Fun 54, and Master 21. I started collecting in the 70s as a teenager. Unfortunately I sold them all before I went into the Army. But I remember reading Overstreet and seeing pictures of GA books and these stood out to me as comics that were forever completely beyond me.A57937E8-0FE7-48C1-8FF9-7B7E15A5B5AB.thumb.jpeg.abcf70cb7989b31aad62a98774c01ac4.jpeg

I totally agree with you on the historic value of the Okajimas and the Holocaust cover

Mostly a SA guy, I don't have most of the eye porn, i mean gems, above.  But I still have too many to list, so focusing on "tough" books even assuming unlimited money and patience (talking YEARS) for a replacement.  I am talking about being prepared to say goodbye for the rest of your natural life tough.

80 years later, this Denver 9.0 remains the single highest-graded copy of this Centaur key.  There apparently used to be a 9.0 Church Mile High copy that GPA says sold back in 2002, but that book was resubbed to CGC and came back an 8.5 years ago (per pix from Heritage).  So to round out the top four known in existence of this cool Centaur, there are only two 8.5s (that Church and a second Denver) and a sole 8.0, and they never come up for sale.

And quite literally never for sale with a full front cover is this 1939 Gleason key.  First appearance of the Claw, "the world's worst villain" of that era, and the then-experimental and ultra-cool matallic ink cover.  I mean even Bat #1s, Supe #1s, and Cap #1s come up for sale sometimes!   Sheesh.

Super cool.  Denver is a really tough ped.
