Hey Ron thanks for all the kind words.

Typically I try to stay out of these arguements because, as anyone following this thread will understand sometimes using logic is just a waste of time. People hear what they want and will interpret your words (or just ignore them) any way they see fit. I have been following this thread of course, and quite often wished I had some popcorn to compliment these readings.

But, with a great compliment like that I just felt I had to comment. Ron has been coming to my store for 11 years and has always been a true sincere comic fan. He's been completing runs forever and still often finds great deals. When he does show me his purchases at a show they really are the best deals I have ever seen. It's great that you pop by once a month and is always fun talking about the industry with you. I too hope your wishes that there can be two great shows in Toronto remain true. We will do what we can to continue that.

Thanks to everyone else that has supported us on this thread. It really means a lot to Kevin and I to know what we are doing is appreciated. This year's show promises to be the best and biggest yet. There is a lot more work to do and many more guests still to sign.

Thanks for everyones input and we look forward to your feedback both public and private.

You call that lying?

When you emphatically claim that you've never had a porn star at your show when Traci Lords was there, yes that is lie. You can say 'was, was, was' all you want but anyone who's heard of Traci Lords will identify her as a porn star. By your logic, if Charles Manson was on First Wave, you could invite him too and claim that you've never had a mass murderer at your show either. See how ridiculous that is?

Unlike some people, we dont judge our guests based on their pasts! Her purpose of being there was to promote First Wave... If you cant see that, then you need to get some help...

This must be one of the most preposterous things I've read on the net lately. I certainly understand HER motives for attending your show. But if you don't consider your guests based on their past, what was Marina Sirtis doing there? Why bring in Nimoy, Mayhew or Ferrigno? What magnificient projects were they working on? Why bring in guests at all if not for their past? Can you recognize and admit your own hypocrisy?

Opening doors on time? that is out of our control... If the exhibitors havent cleared the aisles, we CANT open the doors due to liability risks... We dont want our fans to get hurt, which I am hoping you can understand... We try our best every year, but the show keeps on growing, so there are always unexpected situations that arise... I will apologize for that though... and it is on one of our "needs to be fixed" lists... Things are already in the works to take care of that...

You've just illustrated the difference between strong management and weak management. You can't control weather. You can't control global markets. But opening on time is as simple as looking at your watch and sending a message to your staff to let people in. I'll assume you know how to tell time. Weak management allows dealers to set up late and to clog aisles when the show is supposed to open. Just do the math: 45 minutes late x 10,000 customers = 7,500 man-hours wasted. A complete disregard for your customers time. If you still feel that this is something beyond your control, you should hire some professional project managers. This has been happening every Day 1 of your show for the 7 years that I've been going, so you'll understand if I don't have much faith in you to resolve it.

Ok smartass, you tell me how you would control 10,000 people who are all trying to get into our show at the same time? Sorry bud, but sending volunteers doesnt cut it... It is a pretty simple premise, you pay for your ticket, and go to the back of the line to gain entry into the show... Most people understand that, but refuse to respect that...

So are you saying the you don't need to do anything because it's a pretty simple premise? You can certainly choose to ignore your crowd problem if you wish but I suggest you come outside when your doors haven't opened 45 minutes into the show. You can see for yourself how angry people are and how disorganized the multiple lines are. Will it take an ugly incident before you do something? Do you think you bear no liability?

If your time means money, then I would save your 2 cents for something that can be considered useful. Your Traci Lords comment, only embarasses you...

Out of pity, I've given you more free advice. Unfortunately I've also had to leave you standing there naked, but I hope you can take a new perspective to improve your show.

I thought you were making a serious crack at us... We have NEVER allowed pornstar/strippers in our event...

That's funny. I guess it must have been just my imagination that I said hello to Traci Lords at her table in your show a few years ago.

Dude, you really need to get some help... There is no relevance to your B.S. Your case is weak, and has absolutely no merit. So, I guess Pamela Anderson couldnt be a guest at this show based on your rational... You are NUTS!

I said we dont judge our guests! I also see you have the inability to comprehend...

There are many criteria's for our guest selection. If Traci hadnt done First Wave, she wouldnt have appeared at this event...

Once again, you have had a comprehension problem... IF the show floor is unsafe, WE WILL NOT ALLOW OUR CUSTOMERS TO ENTER! In 2004, we opened 10 minutes late... In 2005, we opened 30 minutes late.

45 minutes late x 10,000 customers = 7,500 man-hours wasted.

Dont quite know what this implies.

Yes I was out there, and I saw one long line stretching 4 city blocks. We saw people chatting with each other, eagerly awaiting to enter the Canadian National Expo. Yes some people may have butted in, but that is the same as any other big lineup... These are common problems amongst LARGE crowds...

We could spend thousands and thousands of dollars to control it SOMEWHAT, BUT then we would have to charge you more for admission, which I dont think the general public would want to pay...

Out of pity, I've given you more free advice. Unfortunately I've also had to leave you standing there naked, but I hope you can take a new perspective to improve your show.

You call that free advice? Where is this advice? I see alot of complaining about some relevant issues, but mostly alot of B.S. Advice generally means offering some sort of suggestions...

This thread is a mess, so I'm closing it. The intent of the events board is to let the community share information about events, including when they are AND how good/bad they are, and what people liked to didn't like, if it's worth going, etc.etc.

Somewhere in this thread, we crossed the line from information sharing to personal grudges.
