Your thoughts on collection reducing

80 posts in this topic

I've read many times of people losing interest, selling and then in 10 or 15 years spending huge $ buying all this stuff back. How 'bout selling your duplicates and readers and hanging onto the rest of it 'cause you just might wanna' get back into it later. thumbsup2.gif

I auctually offered them on Craigs list and someone offered me 3 cents a book for the 250 boxes and 15 cents for my Marvels. And EVERY Marvel is in a Mylar of one type or another.

But he did offer me $2 apiece for my Spidey 300s.

I asked you to keep our e-mails confidential! sumo.gif

I would:

1 Keep all the pedigree books you have.

2 Keep all books that you are strongly attached to, whether its beacuse of a cover or whatever reason.

3 I would keep any book that has an OG value of greater than $100 as of 2005, and sell anything else HG, be it Raw or Slabbed.

I'd love to reduce my collection. I just doubt I have anything anybody would want. frown.gif

I collect crappy bronze VFs! poke2.gif

I've been known to collect crappy F/VF silver age, too! stooges.gif

judging from the late SA slabbed F/VF to VF books in my collection, there are some nice ones out there that are only a little worse than 9.2s.

If you want to own a nice presentable copy of the comic and don't care about lables or resale or any of that, those are nice grades. Heck, I've seen some nice looking 5.0 - 6.5s too, with something like a crease on the back cover or whatever.

The average grade for my entire CGC collection is 7.7, so I qualify as well. yay.gif

I would:

1 Keep all the pedigree books you have.

Counting my MH2 Avengers 134,that would be two comics.

2 Keep all books that you are strongly attached to, whether its beacuse of a cover or whatever reason.

That would be about a half a box

3 I would keep any book that has an OG value of greater than $100 as of 2005, and sell anything else HG, be it Raw or Slabbed.

That might be two boxes, using OS prices. So with my two boxes of Avengers and assorted mini-series of theirs and such,I'd be at five boxes. Food for thought. thumbsup2.gif

We had a similar thread in General a while back. My advice is the same.

"Keep what you love and sell what you don't."

To that I would add... "also keep what you like and is hard to replace". Plus, you can always downgrade the comics you do love. Good luck.
