Question on art term

Maybe a stupid question, but I often come across the term 'stat' when refering to a part of the page. What exactely does this mean?

It's a photocopied paste-up used as a correction or to create a duplicate panel. For example, if an artist draws a character too small on a cover, he can create an enlarged photocopy of the character and paste it over the original. This is done more by computer these days.

It's basically a piece of non-art pasted to a cover or page. As such, covers that are largely stat sell for significantly less.
