Looks like a minor printing defect -- I bet most people wouldn't even notice it.  I guess the question is whether it's just on this book (or a very small handful) or more common.

This issue was the first 12 cent DD I bought off the rack. I think I bought the Annual before this one.

Wow, that's an awesome memory to have! I can remember the first time I bought my own comics and it was 4 Marvel Bronze Age books at a discount store. Kind of an overstock type of place, so I suppose they were a few months old but still new.

It seems like a very minor printing error - hardly worth getting excited about in general. Even if super rare-- it is a defect, not a variant or something special to covet imo. It should have no impact on grading beyond reaching 9.6 and above

It's probably something similar to that FF52 "amulet' variant cover.

First-- beautiful copy!

this cover seems like it would deceptively hide any newton rings. I know it freaks me out when I look at my scanned copy thinking I forgot to take off a warped bag ..... but it is just the artwork as this is not in a bag

Yeah no rings, and thanks. Classic  book.

fedex ground is pretty slow and lame. fedex express service, overnight and 2 day, are great, and better by far than usps. their claims process is also much, much easier. i was paid in 2 weeks for a damaged package. tracking is reliable, unlike usps. my last usps claim took 6 months and i had to appeal for no good reason. and as we all know, priority packages routinely disappear from the system, sometimes for weeks, sometimes forever.
