Picked up my first couple of Argosys. Sports covers in very nice condition.

It's kind of crazy how relatively cheap these are compared to baseball cards from the same period. I know it's fiction so it's a different animal but they have such a Golden Age of baseball & football look and feel.

It certainly is. That’s the first published appearance of  Burroughs Master Mind of Mars too. He wasn’t able to sell the story to other higher paying sources so Gernsbacks got it on the cheap.

If you got extra $$$ lying around get the book version published shortly thereafter in 28’ for a killer bookend set...

I'm a fan of the very under rated sports pulps too.

Happy to pick up these 2 Schomburg war covers before prices go crazy... well they're August Schomburg and pre war, but of all the Flying Ace covers I looked at these are fascinating as harbingers of things to come. Great blurbs and actually have Nazi's being shot down rather than more generic covers.

They're skinny and bedsheet size which is a pretty cool format.

A couple cheap WT's in today.  Finlay & Brundage, one of each.  It's the last new Brundage cover for Weird Tales, and I think her last new pulp work at all.  They reprinted the cover on a digest issue of WT near the end of the run.

The Brundage cover actually has a lot of Finlay qualities to it to my eye. I wonder if she adapted towards his style as he took over the book for the most part after her 30's run?

Postman brought me some goodies today too. Two of my highest want list Planet space babe covers. I think the March 1952 cover by Anderson is my favorite of the whole run, although babes in test tubes are always cool.

I like them both but the 1948 Planet with the “girl in a tube” is among my personal favorites. Both are in Steranko’s History of Comics cover gallery too...

Cool,  I didn't know that. That might be one of the reasons why there are fewer copies of these two than almost all of the others for sale.

I'm not selling the girl in the tube short, I love her lol, she's a Million years old but an x-ray of her shins I think shows that she's OK 🤪🤪🤪

The originals were only in b&w but here’s the pages from volume 1:
