Silver Surfer 1-18 Appreciation Thread

Couldn't find one of these threads, and I understand that the tail end of the series is in the bronze age but thought it belonged here.

 

I've been on a comic odyssey to get the original 1-18 of this series, and am now 3 issues away. Unfortunately, 2 of the three I'm missing are the most expensive of the bunch.

 

I absolutely love the John Buscema art, and Stan Lee did some good work here. The expanded origin in issue 1 is a just a great read.

 

I don't own any high-grade copies, but that means you get to put mine to shame with your beautiful books and I get to see your beauties! Win-win!

#3 is my fave of that run by far. It is a phenominal story and I love Buscema art of this time period.

Here is my 4. Picked this up from my lcs a couple of years ago. Came from an OO collection. Nice white pages. Good thing it has the slight damage on the right edge or I would'nt have been able to afford it

I used to have a perfect set of Silver Surfers in the 1980s, to my mind they were all NM.

At the time I had to sell them and my full X-men run to pay some bills.

They really are the only comics from my collection that I have every sold.

I totally regretted it and have only sold the odd duplicate ever since.

I have long since replaced them all but I wish I had kept my 1st set.

Don't really know why it received only a 9.0 either,the corners are sharp as a knife,no spine creases.Just a stunning looking book.Maybe one day I'll resubmit it for a grade bump.

Agreed! I think TTA 93 is one of the classic SA covers. Still looking for the right one.
