I'll second that.  Motion carries.

I concur.  I mean, the guy is basically talking to himself anyway.  99% of people in this thread won't even answer him anymore.  It's clear what's going on, whether he admits it to himself or not.

I like hearing (reading) what educated, and knowledgeable people have to say on these subjects, not some random guy that "owns" three books with his brother, and relentlessly pumps those three books over all others.  We get it, we all like Spider-Man too.  For the sake of everyone on this forum, just CHILL.

I think his brother owns them and he lives vicariously through them/him...

I think the essence of the hobby sort of escapes his grasp.  We're collectors, not buyers.  A lot of us have the money to buy these books.  The fun is finding and buying the right book, not just any copy.  How's the color strike?  Registration?  Centering?  Is the creasing on the front or the back?  Is there a date stamp you find attractive, or atrocious?  Is it a pedigree copy?  Does it fit your budget?  Will they consider time payments?  How can you sneak this by the wife?

These are questions we've ALL asked ourselves, as collectors...not buyers.  Obviously, all of us are happy when our books go up in value as opposed to down, but that's not why we do this.  I couldn't care less how much my Hulk 1 is worth.  It's mine, and it's not for sale.

Try collecting sir, not just owning.  It's an eye opener.

I highlighted the most important aspect of your well-crafted response.

I heard that. The financial should be secondary. I liked this thread a year ago when it was more enjoyable.

I think the challenge is how to continue thinking of it as a hobby when prices are crazy and out of control. I know if I had to buy a copy now, I don't think I could afford it. It's hard to spend money that could go towards the kitchen reno, mortgage, trip to Europe, etc.

Agreed.  I barely skim thru SC22s posts.  It's always the same thing again and again.  Spouting hype.  Getting defensive.  Then pointing out others talking money.  Boring.

and I also agre strongly with Vinatage about the CC sales spiking AF15 down into the lower grades.  Those sales were shockingly high for mid grade copies. Wacky high... almost shilly high.  After that people began chasing similar copies left and right, but only online and at auction... not at conventions.  I also agree that many many times when anomaly high sales happen, too many people jump to conclusions that "the book is hot" when it's quite often just an upgrade parlay.  Flippers will always bid based on what the upgrade sell price will be. And NOT what it's current label says.  Been happening for awhile now. Preview night etc.

sure AF15 is one the best books to have, but that alone doesn't explain the recent crazy spike is sales of lower grade copies.

It's beyond clear to me that any communication with you is lost on deaf ears.

Enjoy yourself.

Do you think the whole world of comic book collecting is on this website (great great website that's not my point) there are tons of collectors that do just that collect on their own outside of the net. Here we are mostly 20 people talking to each other here in the SA section....yes I know many many just read....but I bet not even 5% of all collectors worldwide even bother reading what we write....and 5% is been generous....millions upon millions of people collect worldwide. They do what they please and buy what they want regardless of anything spoken here.

I don't bother you guys with what you post but you guys feel free to let me have it....makes no sens live and let live. Oh yeah I must be the one who turned this whole thing upside down oh the power I have....you guys ''all'' participated at one point or another and still do every single day....money, money and more money talk it's everywhere not just me. I have not even boosted AF15 in a while and since then I have been reading yours posts and it's all or most money talk.

Dem has already stated that he knows the buyer of the two mid grade copies at the CC auction that sold and has directly disputed all of your assumptions about those two lonesome sales.

Also, how would you then explain the multiple sales of 6.5 copies that happened a year before the CC auction for $50k+, that were more than 20 grand higher than any prior sale in that grade ?

Never married I knew not to go down that road a long time ago....I don't know anyone that likes been married especially the men!! Give, give and from then on out it's take, take and take not for me....they don't give you much and to me it's not worth it!! I would not even pay 5$ on that so called ''investment''!! Hiding from someone to enjoy a hobby give me a royal break....seriously....I am a adult why in the world would I chose that over freedom!!

Where did those sales take place?
