I love Di ck Ryan’s manic funny animal work at Centaur, and that’s coming from someone who’s not a funny animal guy. He’s a highly under-appreciated artist. Did he do much else outside of Centaur?

Doesn’t seem there’s much about him on the internet aside from a few sources like http://muttermumblegrumblegripe.blogspot.com/2010/01/art-appreciation--ryan.html

It is know that he did an Animal Crackers comic strip, worked for Chesler, and was actually one of DC’s earliest artists, having done similar children’s book-esque funny animal art for them as well, like in 1936 issues of New Comics:

It’s a super cover, and an excellent example of how good colouring can help a cover stand out.   With substandard colouring it would be still be nice, but not the stand out that it is.
