Revered artists you just don't get

Some of the other threads got me to thinking.

 

There are certain artists that are considered to be highly esteemed geniuses, even collectively among their peers. However, I myself struggle to see the genius in their work -- even, sometimes consider it to be odd and off-putting or boring.

 

Two that come to mind are

Bill sienkiewicz

Alex toth

 

Clearly, this is a subjective thing. But anyone else have revered artists in mind, that they just don't see or get?

Giant Alex Ross posters in a LCS window makes me keep walking. I know it's not logical or fair, but it's what I do.

You know, I love Frank Miller. His Daredevil run is it. But you know sometimes I look at one of his panels and I think, "That's really horrible."

 

Didn't he draw Superman with a giant bulge or something like that?

Wow two hits against alex ross, I'm not getting why.

I can understand not liking photo-realistic art but that shouldn't be a hit on him.

Like was said, he is making it very hard for me to get through the first arc of All-Star Batman. Why did DC pair him with Snyder. His Superman run was even worse.

But it's not only a one-trick pony, it's not even that well done anymore.

Seems like ever since Wildsiderz.
