I've actually been thinking that as I have seen some of their promo videos on-set. He lost so much weight now (over 50 pounds), I think he is now closer to 190. It's going to look odd after all these films. Though he should be very proud turning his life around.

Smith and Mewes do a podcast together, and Smith has said a number of times that Mewes was drunk on set a lot during the last film and it delayed filming a bit.  He said Mewes agreed not to do harder drugs as a condition for shooting, so he replaced it with alcohol, which wasn't much better.  So that's why he's pointing out that he's crushing it this time, he's been sober for years now.

When he appeared on Comic Book Men and convinced the staff to give him money out of the register, that was really sad.

But I am hoping this is a cleaned-up JM throughout this film (and beyond). Unfortunately his track record says otherwise.

Every time they do the Jay and Silent Bob Get Old podcast he says how long he's been sober, and it's up to something like 8 years (and X number of months and Y number of days).  So he's had it under control for a long time now.  He's got a 4-year old kid that seems to be motivating him to keep it together.

Also yeah, a thin Silent Bob is going to be really out of this world.

 

Also I really hope this film does as well as the original. Ever since Clerks II Kev's track record hasn't been so great

If true, it's inane that Smith didn't even try to ask Affleck to appear.  Either way I fully expect that Smith will comment on it.

Absolutely.  Any time he shows up in national press at almost any level he comments on it.  Past examples include his getting kicked off the Southwest flight for not buying two seats because the flight attendant thought he was too fat, he and Adam Carolla fighting over Smith somehow getting some joint project they were on cancelled, and I'm sure I'm forgetting half a dozen other things.  He comments on everything even if it's personally embarrassing to him...he's not easily embarrassed and is a completely open book.  It's one of the qualities I share with him that have led me to listen to most of his podcasts over the years, particularly Smodcast.

I totally get what you mean. Kevin Smith loves sharing his thoughts on any topic. And his tears, too, when watching a TV show.

OMG, what the heck is wrong with Kevin Smith?!  Looks like he's had his stomach stapled for about a year too long.  So many hollyweirdos look like they lost a hundred pounds overnight...I mean I know he had a heart attack or something but he just looks unhealthy.

Oh, and with Kevin Smith he is a vegetarian now and posts regularly about his weight loss and diet menus.
