I will start off with OSPG #9 (1979).....

Please note the second "value" listed is the "value" listed from the previous year.

#1) Fantastic Four #1.............................................$600      $360

#2) Showcase #4....................................................$450      $180

#3) Amazing Fantasy #15.....................................$360      $255

#4) Amazing Spider-Man #1................................$300      $255

#5) Hulk #1............................................................$240       $120

#6) Journey into Mystery #83..............................$255       $120

#7) Fantastic Four #2...........................................$210      $135

#8) Fantastic Four #3...........................................$150      $90

#9) Flash #105......................................................$150      $105

#10) Showcase #8................................................$150      $75

#11) The Avengers #1.........................................$120      $60

#12) Jimmy Olsen #1...........................................$120      $75

#13) Brave and Bold #1......................................$120      $105

#14) Tales to Astonish #27.................................$120      $90

#15) Showcase #1................................................$120     $105

#16) Showcase #14.............................................$120      $60

#17) Tales of Suspense #39...............................$105      $60

#18) Fantastic Four #4........................................$105     $75

#19) Amazing Spider-Man #2............................$90       $75

#20) Hulk #2.........................................................$90      $60

Please DO NOT ask me why Hulk #1 is listed at #5 @ $240 and JIM 83 is listed as #6 @ $255.  I have no idea.

Things I find interesting from this list....

1) FF clearly ruled (holding 4 of the top 20 slots).

2) The huge price increases over the previous year (look at Showcase #4 which went from $180 to $450).

3) The fact that a book could get on the list for only $90.

4) AF 15 price at $360 (I bet everyone wishes they had bought every copy available at those prices).

That is all I have time for right now.

Hopefully some other board members will be kind enough to help the OP out as time permits.

I was 18 in 1979 and $100 was a considerable sum to me as i can remember,... i actually had a decent job paying 5 bucks an hour so take home was about $160 a week

i did not have the wisdom to buy any high dollar comic at that time although i do remember buying an 1885 Liberty nickel for $125.00 a few years later which didn't increase in value much over the years

Overstreet 1998-99 shrank SA list to top 10. The 1997-98 nm values almost the same:

1. AF #15 nm $27,000

2. Showcase 4 nm $25,000

3. ASM #1 nm $19,000 still keeping up with AF #15

4. FF #1 nm fallen to $18,400

5. Showcase 8 nm $12,500 scarce Flash

6. Incred Hulk #1 nm, a great buy at $11,000

7. X-men #1 nm $ 5,500 (seems underpriced comparatively)

8. Detective 225 nm $5,200 scarce Jon Jonzz

9. Flash 105 nm $5,200

10. Brave Bold #28, underpriced nm $5,000

Hulk #181 nm at the time was aggressively valued at $450 yet :news: cheaper than HoS #92 nm $460 !

Can someone tell me why Adventure Comics 247 in the mid-80s went all the way to top SA book?  It doesn't even appear in the top 20 in 1979.  I love that book, don't get me wrong, but I don't remember Legion ever being that big with my friends when I was a young reader/collector.

I don't understand it either, but for some reason the legion was very hot in the 80s.

Levitz. Giffen. Darkseid. Epic.

And the book is incredibly tough as SA keys go; probably the hardest one to find a decent copy of by far, unless you are a war guy and targeting OOAW 83. 247 is still on my bucket list.
