The moment of acquisition is the high point of collecting anything.

Yes, truly. It's all downhill from there...

@Reno McCoy  I know where you are coming from.  When I got back into picking up a few comics here and there a few years back, I grew tired of just boxing them.  I purchased a desk easel and displayed the new comic or two for a while.  I got to enjoy the cover for days or weeks after reading it.  Didn't matter if it was a $50 GA book or a $3 modern.  If I liked the cover I displayed it.

Lately, I have been feeling disconnected again and I was planning on selling a big portion of my comics.  I went through all my boxes and reorganized them.  I reindexed my spreadsheet with the new locations and even did a little audit on my collection.  I love maintaining spreadsheets and this just gave me joy at every turn: looking that the covers, re-reading an issue here or there, cataloging it in the spreadsheet, etc.  Recently, I started scanning in boxes of comics.  I did a couple of boxes and it is time consuming but very rewarding once completed.  So while, I still want to lighten the load a bit, I just love my comics.

Interesting that you would say this. I've been selling a lot lately, and I have too rearrange some comics in my boxes. While doing so, I found myself reinvigorated with the comics I already own. I didn't have much time to do it, but in the short time I had, I enjoyed comics more than I have in a long time. I look forward to setting aside an hour or so soon to get reacquainted with some of my favorite issues.

@Reno McCoy I'm going through that phase right now. Well, I guess I have been for a year and a half, which is partially to blame for the lack of my presence on these boards. I've gone through a bunch of huge life events (marriage, kid, moving to a new state), so my time reading, searching and finding awesome comic treasures has shrunk considerably. I haven't even really sold that much either. My comics are just sitting there.

That collecting and deal-finding hole has been filled temporarily with the stupid Star Wars Card Trader digital card trading app. It's actually quite addicting and was a perfect time killer when staying up with a crying infant. Recently, I've really started to miss discussing new books here and the weekly Friday meltdown, so I'm sure the passion will come back.

When I go through the boxes, it feels like this:  (I think I got this picture from someone here)

lol That exact thing happened to me in 2008. I hadn't collected for like 10 years. My comics were stored at my parents' house and I barely thought about them. So I decided to bring them to my house and sell them all. Then I looked through them and remembered that they were awesome. I've been in a buy/sell/upgrade rabbit hole ever since.

In all that time, I've realized the thrill of the hunt is very real, but I've also owned items for 20+ years that still give me that same rush.
