Nope a properly placed front cover stamp is a fantastic addition to any GA/SA book IMO.

The book I just pulled the trigger on that I asked about a few posts up... I can honestly say...even though the book presents well for grade, if it weren't for the date stamp, I wouldn't have bought it . So clean/pronounced, and I like the placement.

Anyone know what the last section of this date stamp represents? Doesn't appear to be a year....

At first glance it looked like "MILF" but then I looked closer and ruled that out.

I see "MID-" and then an unknown character. Perhaps it represents a particular comic shop...

Not any of those. It's a typical Crown date stamp from the 50s or 60s. From the last wheel's settings, you can choose from a set range of dates, typically about 10 years worth from the time you buy the stamper, and that last wheel also has non-date choices, like Recd, PAID, M.A., etc., etc. In this case, it was set on a choice other than the year.

that was perfectly placed and like him, I will be checking every book for awhile, hopefully my life eventually goes back to normal.
