Look, who cares about the damaged comics? This is what matters:

The Last Jedi was good, though it drags a bit in the middle with the casino heist deal. But there are some gorgeous shots in this movie. It's beautiful.

The Force Awakens is fine, a necessary resetting of the table following the disastrous prequels. Highly derivative of the first SW flick, but I enjoyed it, particularly the return to practical effects.

Solo was completely unnecessary, but still fun.

But they all pale in comparison to Rogue One, the best SW since Jedi. Loved it.

Ok, carry on with the comic stuff.

Yes, absolutely! I have a lot of love for Krull. In fact, I used to be in a band that had a couple of "secret" shows playing under the name Black Fortress.

Hold on.

Krull is not even in the same category as The Last Jedi

Yes, Krull is basically a boilerplate quest movie. Yes, some of the special effects are bad, especially the fire mares and they way they tried to make The Beast look gigantic, both distorting and obscuring his appearance thus totally undermining the finale.*  Yes, the Glaive is the biggest McGuffin nothingburger of all time. And while I appreciate the sentiment, the final solution to defeating The Beast is insipid.

BUT...it has some really cool ideas:

- the Black Fortress is only in the same place for 24 hours and moves randomally at sunset.

- the interior of the Fortress looks like The Beast’s innards

- the Widow of the Web is kept youthful by means of the sands in the hourglass; she sacrifices herself by giving the sands to Ynyr. As the sands pass through his fingers he dies and she grows old. And they get attacked by a giant spider

- the Cyclops who traded one of their eyes to be able to see the future but were betrayed and the only future they see is their own death

And there’s some really cool scenes too. When they’re going through that dead swamp and the Slayers start rising out of that  muddy marsh, that was one of the creepy-coolest things as a kid.

I would gladly watch Krull any day over The Last Jedi.

* check out the inside back cover of the Marvel Super Special adaptation to see how cool The Beast costume was!

The best part about Krull is that...ok, the TWO best parts...is that it wasn't 1. a treatise on current social dynamics, by people who not only don't care what you think, they're going to preach their ideology any and every chance they get, whether you like it or not, and 2. filled with the most asinine and amateur errors that take you right out of the movie and say "WTF? Did that girl just "drop" a whole bunch of "bombs" out in space, as if there was gravity...? And she's ALSO out in space, without any sort of helmet or other protection? And Princess Leia is now doing Harry Potter flying tricks??"

And there would have been nothing wrong with any of the above, had it been properly done, properly explained. But it wasn't. It just...was.

Star Wars isn't fantasy...it's science fantasy. Sure, the originals, and the prequels to a much larger extent, did things that physics should have said weren't possible, but it was sparing, and not the main focus. But Princess Leia doing a Professor McGonagall in space...?

Not Star Wars. And, to borrow from Dr. Ian Malcolm, the people behind Last Jedi were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should.

Another online retailer sent out an email today on ASM books. Great example of how to communicate.

To our customers,

As you are hopefully aware, there were significant printing problems with two versions of Amazing Spider-man 800. This included the Lucio Parrillo Red Goblin books, and the Inhyuk Lee  books. For those who were unaware, or to refresh your memory, we have included the picture again below which demonstrates the condition that the vast percent of the print run arrived in.

We communicated these problems via two emails sent out to our customer base, and posted on our facebook page. At the time of our email, we wrote that we anticipated shipping out both versions the first week of July. As we have now reached that time, we wanted to give an update to our valued customers as to where things stand with both versions of these books.

Im pleased to tell you that the books have now shipped from Diamond distributors. This means that we will have the Parrillo version in hand within a few days, and the Inhyuk Lee version a few days after that.

As we fully understand how frustrating this experience has been for all of you, we have dramatically increased staffing in order to process orders for these items in an extremely expeditious manner.

In addition, as a sincere thank you for your business and patience during this extremely frustrating experience for all parties, I am pleased to offer you a 10 dollar off coupon for any purchase of 20 dollars or more, good anytime over the next month. Apply coupon code
SAVE10BUCKS to save.

Thank you very much for your business and support!

Same. Not many but no problems and all the raw books purchased through them have come back 9.8.

I may have jinxed myself. Anyone else noticing over the past few months their orders are shipping very late? As in a few weeks or more?

The typical response I get is , "CGC is back-logged." , or Unknown is back logged.

Wait till they use “My colon is back logged” as an excuse...

Speaking of Picasso and knowing the rules before breaking them, consider this:

9.jpg

It is a masterpiece of light, color, form, and anatomy. There are some slight errors in it...for example, the chair is out of proportion with the girl kneeling on it and the man standing next to it...but Picasso obviously knew the rules before breaking them and becoming the surrealist master that he was. And he painted this when he was 15!

I realize it's a tad late to comment on this painting but I just read the posts because it was resurrected. That said, that is not a chair in the painting but a "kneeler." Notice how the right rear foot raises the cushion on which the girl is kneeling only inches above the floor?

Thank you! I'm not familiar with Catholic regalia. In other words, Picasso wasn't out of proportion at all...meaning, he was an even greater genius....
