JOKER: THE MOVIE spoilers thread (anything goes)

I'll start (IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THIS TOPIC IS FOR SPOILERS BUT SOME PEOPLE FIND A WAY TO WHINE ANYWAY)... :kidaround:

The bloody shoes at the end of the movie imply he killed the doctor, but there's no blood anywhere else (unlike when he killed that guy in his apartment), so are we supposed to assume the final scene is a fantasy?

All I know was when he was running through the halls the audience laughed...... it was just kind of warped, the juxtaposition I found myself in was stressful.....  still gave it a 8 or 9 out of 10, well scripted, good actor, and I'm sure this will be discussed for a while, I'm kind of over it lol js :sorry: it was definitely a "different kind of viewing", but not any different than some of the stories you would find in a comic.....

BECK

Spoiler

The forces of evil in a bozo nightmare
Ban all the music with a phony gas chamber
'Cause one's got a weasel and the other's got a flag
One's got on the pole shove the other in a bag
With the rerun shows and the cocaine nose job
The daytime with the folksinger slop
He hung himself with a guitar string
A slab of turkey neck and it's hangin' from a pigeon wing
You can't get it right if you can't relate
Trade the cash for the beef for the body for the hate
And my time is a piece of wax fallin' on a termite
That's chokin' on the splinters

I assume your audience was going for "nervous laughter" or "last-chance-to-laugh-at-something", since that scene wasn't funny.  Or perhaps, like the doctor, I just didn't get it. hm

Yeah

Our audience didn't clap either

I'm going to assume it was out of nervousness

What about the dance before the cop chase...

Vintage Joker...

You never got that with Heath...

As insane as Heaths joker was, he was methodical, like his insanity had purpose...

exactly, but having not seen Heath, this one had no "plan" per se, nothing that was genius, it was purely reactionary and irrational, and certainly a side of the Joker we've seen in comic form, but often with him saying that he can't go into too much more detail because it was too far gone..... like this issue

Another random thought...

I have a feeling that the screen going black at different times in the movie might be an indicator of when some fantasies start/end, but I'd have to watch it a few times to see if that's true.

Obviously, the director wanted a lot of ambiguity so it's unlikely that we'll get definitive answers, but there are at least a lot of things that are meant to cause discussion.

Instead of "funny" material, where it could have been funny, it was instead slow motion dancing....... it kind of looked like he was trying to calm his nerves instead of "laughing it off" as you would expect the Joker to do, it was a little creepy

I never really understood why Arthur's journal/jokebook had the cutouts of pornography, except to imply that Arthur had zero experience in real world situations despite his age (30-something) and he had a need to keep those images with him in the journal.

the wayne mother twist was the thing that struck me the most...

and As I've already mentioned to @Hollywood1892' who was it in the mask that killed batman's parents....?

It made sense enough that the Joker Tumult is what started the whole riot to show the alley killing, but it seemed just a little out of place to me, other than to remind us this is a comic book movie....

Other than a few time's mentioning Gotham or even the Wayne's, it all seemed like I was watching a fictional story about a crazy person, rather than the "joker" in DC comics.... idk

"Joe Chill" is the traditional answer for 'who was that guy?'.

That's what I figured, I don't know Joe Chill's story, that said I knew "of" him but it added nothing towards the story for me :(

That aspect of his psychology disappointed me...it showed insecurity and weakness, something you didnt get with Heaths joker or even Jared's and definitely not with Jack's, it isnt the marking of a supervillain.

Marvel tried to do it with Thanos, make him have cracks in the armour, and they failed. But that was in Endgame, the villain I would have rather witnessed the Avengers defeat than the one when they went back in time.
