The case for eBay Auction vs Buy it Now in one pic

Problem with "buy it now" in completed listings is it does not show you the actual sales price.  That seller could have made a private offer to buyer through ebay messages for $28,000 and we wouldn't know the difference.  Unlikely in this scenario, but who knows.  More importantly I would not be shipping $30,000 books through the mail to unknown buyers based on how easily claims can be reversed through paypal.

I think when the full price is accepted, the price shows as it is shown above. When a lower price is accepted, it shows that price but with a line through it and it reads "Best offer accepted", as shown in the example below.

It looks like it.  And he offers free shipping and free returns.

I guess someone could have bought it......stopped smoking crack in the 30 day return window.....and sent it back for a full refund (which means, with their new rules, the seller would be stuck with the Paypal fees).

If a book is returned, does it get deleted from GPAnalysis?  And does anyone know what kind of shipping, insurance, and Paypal fees this seller would have to eat in that scenario?

If a green price shows up in sold listings with no line thru it that means the sale was transacted at that price right?  There's no way to make an alternate deal and pay different price.  When a book is sold it goes to sold auctions but does anyone know what happens if buyer requests cancellation?  Does it disappear from sold auctions?

I despise that when you submit a best offer you are locked in for 24 hours if the seller doesn’t respond. There should be an option to cancel an offer that hasn’t been accepted at any time.

I have an offer I submitted 22 hours ago and found the item cheaper since then but can’t buy it because I know the guy is waiting until the last minute to accept it hoping someone else hits his buy it now. I offered 95% of asking. Either accept or don’t!

You CAN withdraw an offer..... same as ending a listing, if there was a "reason" you select it from a drop down menu....

I think that you're only allowed a couple of those with in something like a 2 month period, and you might need a desktop/laptop to get to the menu.....

I highly doubt GPA has the resources to track if a book gets returned, they are probably just scraping data so every time it is listed it will get reported.  That $50k sale is probably going to get reported as well, I'm not sure GPA has the ability to see private offers either.

The supposed $50k eBay "sale" took place on February 11th.

If it was going to show up on GPA, it would already be there.......there are books that sold on eBay yesterday that already show up on GPA's site.

Which is why I was wondering if GPA also removes any entries for books that are returned for a refund or the sale is canceled through eBays website.

Let's see if we can go to the horse's mouth for an answer @gpanalysis

I'd settle for GPA being able to provide even in the general proximity of the type of excellent functionality prior to the upgraded site.. :wishluck:
