I just picked up an ASM 42 for my collection. I would really appreciate some advice on what grade you guys think this would get. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you so much!

Thank you all for your grades! It finally came back from CGC. Apparently there is some color touch on the cover that I didn't see and still can't find but still pretty excited to own this book.

Look closely at the black areas of the cover.

Do you see it? Or is that where it normally is? I looked it over before I sent it in but I am in no way a professional. It seems like there are still a lot of color breaking marks all over the cover.

No sorry, I don't see it.  The black areas are typically where color touch is applied because black is the easiest area to color match.  Probably 90% or more of color touch I see is there.  Unfortunately, spotting it is usually easier on the inside cover.

@The Lions Den  can you see it in the pics?

SE of his foot, maybe that whole area.  Looks like it could be smeared all over, that might not be removable very easily.

Do you mean to the right of the villains left foot?  Looks fishy.

Yep! There is a crease right where you guys were talking about at the bottom corner that looks like it could be the culprit. I weirdly feel better now that I see it. I don't think that can be removed but hey you win some and lose some. I really appreciate all the feedback and helping me out!

You’d be surprised.  If it didn’t soak through, it’s likely just on the surface and will almost wipe off.  It could even be water soluble ink.  Get a makeup pad and lick it just to get it damp.  Lightly dab it and see if it starts coming off.  You could get lucky.

Either way, there’s no way it stays in that slab.  I would cut the corner off before I leave it restored as it would be a reminder that I got bent over.

when looking for color touch on the outside cover I look for color breaking creases that 'disappear' especially when the crease enters a area of black.  It does look like creases are disappearing as they get close to the outside edge of the cover
