J. Jonah. Outside of the dead Goblin, JJJ has certainly caused Spidey the most lasting damage.

In the hands of a top writer / artist team, realising the potential of the concept, I'm certain The Big Wheel would feature much higher in the pecking order than he does currently.

I'd say the Goblin, though in Spidey's 1st two years, Dr. Octopus was clearly established as the main "bad guy" for him.

I flip flop between Doc Ock and Green Goblin.

I think a breakdown of main nemesis through the ages would be interesting discussion as well.

I think you could make a case for the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, or for more modern-focused readers, Venom.

For me, it is very close between the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus.

Goblin was first villain in the movie franchise so that would be my understanding of what majority believe

Been very interesting thus far -- figured GG would get a lot of votes, but also expected a stronger showing from Venom !  Growing up GG storylines were already far past, and his getup seemed so silly, his powers underwhelming.  Of course Gwen's death made it so I could never just dismiss him...
