It doesn’t matter what he actually had a part in creating or when the the last time he created anything was.  The fact is, he is viewed as the grandfather of comic books. People who don’t even read comics know who he is and that recognition can’t be replaced.

After all, he is as my 3-year old told him, “Spider-Man’s Daddy.” (That made Stan laugh, which shows he pays attention to what people say to him)
